Washington, D.C. police have arrested five suspects in connection with a series of burglaries and property damage incidents that occurred across several neighborhoods in the early hours of Tuesday.

The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) reported that the suspects were apprehended after multiple businesses were targeted and damaged in areas including City Center, Georgetown, H Street Corridor, Logan Circle, and near Columbia Heights.

According to a statement released by the MPD, the crimes took place overnight, affecting both businesses and private properties in various parts of the district.

The police noted the widespread nature of the incidents, saying, “Overnight, groups of individuals decided to destroy property and burglarize businesses throughout our city, specifically in the City Center and Georgetown areas, along with a store in the H Street Corridor, a store in Logan Circle, and a store north of Columbia Heights.”

As a result of the incidents, law enforcement officials increased police resources in the affected areas.

Officers responded swiftly to the reports of burglaries and damage, leading to the arrest of five individuals who now face multiple charges, including burglary and fleeing from law enforcement.
