Kamala’s Popularity Takes A Nosedive, Trump Leads In All Battleground States [WATCH]

MSNBC national political correspondent Steve Kornacki reported that Kamala Harris has seen a significant drop in popularity just weeks before the election.

Vice President Kamala Harris attended a program held in Charlotte, North Carolina. North Carolina, USA. 12.01.2024.

In an interview on “Chris Jansing Reports,” Kornacki highlighted a recent CNBC poll showing former President Donald Trump gaining the lead against Harris, with Trump at 48% and Harris at 46%, a reversal from previous months where Harris had been ahead.

Kornacki explained that Harris’ lead has diminished as her positive ratings have declined. He noted that Harris now has a negative rating that is 10 points higher than her positive rating, a stark contrast from earlier in her campaign. “Neither one of them has a greater positive than negative,” Kornacki said, referring to both Trump and Harris. He pointed out that Trump has a 42% positive rating and is six points underwater, while Harris has a 39% positive rating and is 10 points underwater.

Harris initially polled well in the early months of her campaign, with her positive ratings slightly ahead of Trump’s. However, Kornacki noted that her decline in popularity appears to be linked to her slipping position in national polls.

He explained that in the first few weeks of her campaign, Harris managed to maintain positive ratings, even moving above water at one point.

But recent polling, including NBC and CNBC surveys, shows that Harris has returned to “underwater territory” alongside Trump.

In October, Harris engaged in a media blitz, primarily with favorable outlets, but her popularity continued to wane.

Kornacki noted in an earlier segment that Harris’ positive rating had dropped by five points over the course of the month, while her negative rating increased from 45% in September to 49% in October.

Harris, who joined the top of the Democratic ticket in mid-July, initially pulled ahead of Trump in national polls for several weeks.

However, her refusal to participate in interviews or press conferences during that time coincided with her lead shrinking.

According to a Wall Street Journal poll published on Thursday, Trump now leads Harris nationally by 47% to 45%.

Additionally, RealClearPolling averages show Trump holding a 0.9-point lead over Harris in key swing states.

CNN’s senior data reporter Harry Enten added that polling has historically underestimated Trump’s support, both nationally and in swing states, during the 2016 and 2020 elections.

This raises questions about how accurate the current polling data might be as the election nears.
