Vice President Kamala Harris, aiming to energize her base, hosted a major rally Thursday in Georgia.

Despite a lineup filled with entertainment heavyweights like Bruce Springsteen and Tyler Perry, a surprising number of attendees began leaving before Harris even started her speech, as reported by The Daily Mail.

The rally took place in Clarkston, a crucial suburb of the swing state where a win could determine the November election’s outcome.

Former President Barack Obama joined Harris on stage for their first campaign appearance together in 2024, adding star power to the event.

The crowd, estimated by the Harris campaign at around 23,000, marked the largest rally of her campaign so far. Harris greeted Obama warmly, recounting her early support for him 17 years ago and praising his influence on her career.

She tried to fire up the crowd with “Yes we can,” echoing Obama’s famous 2008 slogan.

Yet, observers noticed that Harris’s typical entrance song was missing, dampening the energy as she took the stage.

Following Obama’s speech, where he didn’t hold back on his criticisms of Trump, some attendees headed for the exits, reminiscent of fans leaving a game that’s already been decided.

Obama characterized Trump as a “wannabe king” and “dictator,” referencing recent claims that Trump wished his generals had loyalty similar to Hitler’s military leaders.

He also jabbed at Trump’s recent photo-op at a closed McDonald’s, saying a family would intervene if a grandfather behaved similarly.

Obama praised Harris as ready for office, calling her a grounded leader who’d focus on Americans’ needs, unlike her opponent.

The rally’s lineup included iconic filmmaker Spike Lee and actor Samuel L. Jackson, who urged attendees to stay engaged and vote.

Springsteen, who had recently endorsed Harris, performed three acoustic songs, blending classic hits with the rally’s hopeful tone.

With under two weeks until Election Day, Democrats in attendance expressed optimism, bolstered by early voting figures. The state has already seen over two million ballots cast, smashing previous records.

Although Biden narrowly won Georgia in 2020, recent polls show Trump regaining ground, including a slight lead in the state.

Harris’s Georgia visit follows her rally with Usher in Atlanta just a week earlier, with polling showing a neck-and-neck race in the battleground state.

Emory student Will Carraway, a first-time voter, voiced his concerns over the Republican ticket, while long-time voter Ashley Baker emphasized the importance of reproductive rights and opportunities for entrepreneurs as her reasons for supporting Harris.

Harris, looking to maintain momentum, plans to rally with Michelle Obama in Michigan, while pop star Beyoncé joins her campaign Friday in Houston.

Democrats hope the celebrity-powered rallies will spark turnout and keep Georgia in their column, though Republicans remain confident as the race tightens.
