Trump Scores Surprising Endorsement In Michigan As Kamala Gets Booed In Kalamazoo [WATCH]

Former President Donald Trump received endorsements from several influential Muslim leaders during a campaign rally in Novi, Michigan, on Saturday.

Speaking before an energized crowd in the key battleground state, Trump welcomed the endorsements, describing the leaders as “highly respected.”

Among the endorsers was Imam Belal Alzuhairi, who emphasized Trump’s commitment to peace as a significant reason for their support. “We, as Muslims, stand with President Trump because he promises peace, not war!” Alzuhairi said to strong applause.

“We are supporting Donald Trump because he promised to end war in the Middle East and Ukraine. The bloodshed has to stop all over the world, and I think this man can make that happen.”

Dearborn Heights Mayor Bill Bazzi, the first Muslim and Arab American elected mayor in his city, also joined Trump on stage.

Expressing his support, Bazzi said, “We’re going to stop the wars, we’re going to make the United States safe again, and we’re going to make the world safe.”

Trump responded to Bazzi’s endorsement, saying, “What a nice endorsement. These are great people.”

The endorsements from Michigan’s Muslim community come at a critical moment in the 2024 election season, as Michigan continues to be a key swing state.

Over 1.2 million early ballots have already been cast in the state, setting a record for early voting, according to Michigan Department of State data.

Hamtramck Mayor Amer Ghalib, another prominent figure, had previously voiced his support for Trump in a Facebook post on October 20.

In his post, written in Arabic, Ghalib shared his belief that Trump is the “right choice for this critical time,” adding, “Though it’s looking good, he may or may not win the election and be the 47th president of the United States, but I believe he is the right choice for this critical time.”

Ghalib concluded, “I’ll not regret my decision no matter what the outcome would be, and I’m ready to face the consequences.”

Ghalib’s endorsement followed a private meeting with Trump earlier this week in Flint, Michigan, where the two discussed a range of issues pertinent to Arab American and Yemeni American communities. “We talked about various topics, including the debates, the polls updates, the statistics of votes in Michigan and Wayne County, the Arab American concerns, and the Yemeni Americans in particular,” Ghalib told The Detroit News. “We also talked about the situation in Yemen.”

These endorsements are seen as part of Trump’s strategy to broaden his appeal to diverse voting blocs in Michigan, a state he narrowly lost in the 2020 election by less than three percentage points.

The endorsements by Alzuhairi, Bazzi, and Ghalib add to Trump’s growing base of support as he seeks to consolidate a broad coalition of voters across various demographic groups.
