Kamala Harris won the five boroughs that make up the Democratic stronghold of New York City with just under 69 percent of the vote, according to CBS, representing the lowest share of NYC’s vote for a Democrat since 1992.
With 92 percent of votes in statewide, Harris earned 1,746,194 votes in the five boroughs compared to Trump’s 785,700, according to CBS.
If those numbers hold, that would give Harris 68.66 percent of the vote in the city, the worst performance by a Democrat in the Big Apple since 1992, when Bill Clinton captured roughly 69% percent of the vote, according to data from Politdata and Right Data.
Clinton’s relatively narrow margin over incumbent George H.W. Bush was, in part, affected by the strong support for independent candidate Ross Perot, who got nearly seven percent of the city’s vote, according to Right Data. (RELATED: Donald Trump Projected Winner Of 2024 Presidential Election)
Harris, on the other hand, did not face nearly the same level of independent opposition as the two most popular third-party candidates. The Green Party’s Jill Stein and independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. were not on New York’s ballot.
Kamala Harris, with >95% of precincts reporting, is polling at 67.8% of the vote in New York City.
If that holds, that would be the WORST performance for a Democratic Presidential candidate in the five boroughs since 1988 (!!!!)
A disastrous evening for Democrats in Gotham.

Donald Trump’s gains within city limits mirror the gains he made both state and nation-wide.
Harris beat Trump in New York state with 55.5 percent of the vote to his 43.9 percent, according to CBS News. If those numbers hold, it would be the slimmest margin a Democrat beat a Republican with since Democrat Michael Dukakis beat George H.W. Bush by 4.1 percent in 1988, according to the New York Post.
Trump, in fact, made major gains across a plethora of deep blue states. In neighboring New Jersey, a state Joe Biden won by 16 points in 2020, Trump lost by four. (RELATED: ‘Cleaning Up Kamala’ | WATCH NOW)
