Former ICE Director and incoming Border Czar Tom Homan issued a strong warning to Democratic mayors and police chiefs who obstruct federal immigration enforcement efforts, cautioning that their actions could lead to increased ICE presence in their communities.
Speaking with Lawrence Jones on Fox News, Homan emphasized the legal and strategic consequences of resisting federal immigration operations.
During the segment, Lawrence Jones asked Homan about the repercussions for local officials who obstruct ICE agents tasked with carrying out deportations. “What happens to a mayor or a local police department chief that is under Democratic leadership that obstructs ICE in your federal agents that are helping get these deportations? What happens to them?” Jones inquired.

Homan responded bluntly, urging local officials to stop interfering with federal operations. “First of all, they want to help us, get the hell out of the way. We’re going to do it,” Homan said, highlighting the determination of ICE to fulfill its duties despite local resistance.
He further explained the strategic implications of such obstruction. “If I got to send twice the amount of resources to that city, that’s what we’re going to do. If they ever give us access to the jail, that would mean less agents in the community. For them pushing back and not letting us into jail, it just means more agents are gonna be in the community, so they hurt themselves.”
Homan also urged local leaders to familiarize themselves with federal immigration laws, particularly U.S. Code Title 8, Section 1324. “They need to educate themselves. They need to review this—Title 8, United States Code 1324. I read about that, and don’t cross that line, because it is a felony to harbor and conceal an illegal alien from ICE. Read the statute. Don’t cross that line,” he warned.
Homan pointed to the potential legal risks for officials who harbor or conceal illegal aliens, emphasizing that such actions could result in felony charges under federal law.
Homan made it clear that obstructing ICE operations would backfire, as it would necessitate a larger ICE presence in communities that resist cooperation.
This, he argued, undermines the objectives of local leaders who seek to limit federal immigration enforcement in their jurisdictions.
“If they ever give us access to the jail, that would mean less agents in the community,” Homan reiterated. “For them pushing back and not letting us into jail, it just means more agents are gonna be in the community.”

The segment highlighted the ongoing tension between federal immigration authorities and local governments led by Democratic officials.
Homan’s comments served as a direct warning to those who attempt to obstruct ICE operations, stressing the importance of respecting federal authority and adhering to U.S. immigration laws.
By outlining the potential legal and operational consequences, Homan sent a clear message to local leaders: interference with federal immigration enforcement will not only fail but could lead to significant repercussions for their communities and themselves.
