House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer joined Benny Johnson on The Benny Show to discuss Joe Biden’s recent pardon of Hunter Biden.
Comer suggested the timing and scope of the pardon validate his committee’s investigation into the Biden family’s financial activities, which allege influence peddling, tax evasion, and potential money laundering.

During the segment, Johnson expressed his reaction to the pardon, calling it a significant acknowledgment of the Oversight Committee’s findings. “Mr. Chairman,” Johnson said, “it was effectively Joe Biden, staring down the barrel, saying you were right, saying, you know what, every single thing that you have brought up about me and my family—not only are you so right, you were so right that we need blanket pardon coverage for 11 years of our lives to stay out of prison for life.”

Comer responded by stating he had anticipated the pardon. “Well, my reaction was I obviously knew he was going to pardon Hunter,” Comer said.
“The reason he’s pardoning Hunter so early is because Hunter was fixing to be sentenced to prison next week, and Joe Biden had an opportunity to do it on a Sunday night, right before he got on a plane to Africa.”
Comer pointed out that the pardon extends beyond Hunter’s conviction for tax evasion related to his Burisma income. “He didn’t just pardon him for what he was convicted of,” Comer noted. “He’s pardoning for anything that he could be convicted of from the exact dates where we requested bank records from 2014 to today.”
Comer predicted that the president would issue additional pardons. “He’s not finished pardoning, by the way,” Comer stated. “He will have to pardon at least his brother on the way out.”
The Oversight Committee Chair emphasized that the blanket pardon appears to be a preemptive move to avoid further legal consequences. “Joe Biden read the Oversight Committee report,” Comer said.
“He knew that a Trump Department of Justice could charge Hunter Biden for money laundering, violations of the Foreign Agents Registration Act, and tax evasion for significantly more amounts of money than what he was charged for tax evasion on.”
Comer detailed the financial activities uncovered by the Oversight Committee, which found over $20 million in earnings from China, Romania, and Russia. “All the other money besides Burisma—the Chinese money, the Romanian money, the Russian money—he never paid any taxes on it,” Comer said.
He further outlined how these funds were allegedly laundered through various limited liability companies (LLCs) and used for personal expenses, including payments for “prostitutes” and “sex clubs.”
According to Comer, whistleblowers from the IRS revealed that such expenses were written off as business expenses.
“Everything that he took in from the influence peddling, besides Burisma, he never paid a penny of taxes on it,” Comer said. “And that was over $20 million right there.”
Comer concluded that the president’s pardon serves as an implicit acknowledgment of the validity of the Oversight Committee’s findings. “At the end of the day, you know everything in the investigation was accurate,” he said.

The pardon, announced shortly before Hunter Biden’s scheduled sentencing, has drawn criticism from Republicans, who argue it undermines accountability and transparency.
Comer and the Oversight Committee are expected to continue investigating the Biden family’s financial dealings.
