Radio host Charlamagne tha God expressed his disapproval of Joe Biden possibly issuing preemptive pardons for individuals involved in legal actions against President-elect Donald Trump during the 2024 election.
Charlamagne shared his views during Thursday’s episode of The Breakfast Club, stating that such pardons could make the Biden administration appear “guilty.”
“Trump won fair and square. It is what it is, and I don’t think President Biden should do preemptive pardons, either, [it] makes people look guilty if you ask me,” Charlamagne said.

The radio host also urged Biden to prioritize pardoning individuals serving federal prison sentences for nonviolent drug offenses, including those convicted for marijuana-related charges.
“Biden should be pardoning all the nonviolent drug offenders in federal prison,” Charlamagne continued.
“He should be pardoning everybody in federal prison for nonviolent weed convictions, okay? He should be pardoning [former Baltimore City State’s Attorney] Marilyn Mosby. Those are the pardons he should be working on before he gets his old ass up out of here.”
During the discussion, Charlamagne’s co-host, DJ Envy, raised concerns that Trump might seek retribution against individuals who pursued legal actions against him during the 2024 campaign.
Envy suggested that Biden could issue preemptive pardons to protect those individuals. Charlamagne, however, dismissed the idea, arguing that it would imply wrongdoing.
“Yeah, but why would I be pardoning you if you don’t have any crimes connected to you?” Charlamagne questioned. “Don’t that make you look guilty if I give you a preemptive pardon?”
Envy countered, suggesting that such pardons could simply acknowledge Trump’s potential for retribution, saying, “We know who Trump is, and we know what Trump’s probably going to do.”
Charlamagne responded, “Or it could mean Trump knows something that we don’t know, and that’s why he’s going after these people. I just don’t understand why you would give somebody a preemptive pardon — it just feels like you saying, ‘Okay, I know this person is guilty of something, and Trump may go after them.’”
Envy further argued that Trump has openly stated for years that he would target those he believes weaponized the government against him.
Charlamagne concluded, “It just seems strange to do preemptive pardons, if you ask me. But what do I know? I try to stay out of white people’s business.”

The discussion referenced claims made by Kamala Harris during her campaign that Trump might seek revenge on his “enemies” if he were to win a second term. Trump, however, recently clarified his stance, stating that America’s success would serve as his “retribution.”
The ongoing debate over potential preemptive pardons highlights broader concerns about the implications of such actions and the possibility of further political and legal conflicts as Trump prepares for his second term.
