Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi underwent hip replacement surgery after she fell during a congressional delegation trip abroad, according to a Saturday statement from spokesperson Ian Krager.
Pelosi, 84, was admitted to a hospital in Luxembourg following the incident during a visit with bipartisan lawmakers to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge, the California congresswoman’s spokesperson revealed Friday.

Surgeons successfully replaced Pelosi’s wounded hip Saturday morning, the press release said.
“Earlier this morning, Speaker Emerita Pelosi underwent a successful hip replacement and is well on the mend,” the Pelosi spokesperson revealed.
“Speaker Pelosi is grateful to U.S. military staff at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center at Landstuhl Army Base and medical staff at Hospital Kirchberg in Luxembourg for their excellent care and kindness,” the statement continued.
“Speaker Pelosi is enjoying the overwhelming outpouring of prayers and well wishes and is ever determined to ensure access to quality health care for all Americans,” the Pelosi spokesperson added.
Pelosi has served in the House since 1987. The elderly Democrat has frequently suggested during the 2024 campaign that President-elect Donald Trump, who is 78 years old, was not suited to be president due to his age. (RELATED: Mitch McConnell Receives Medical Care After Suffering Fall: REPORT)
On Friday, Krager said that Pelosi will not return for travel engagements with her fellow lawmakers. He expressed that the former House speaker looks forward to going home to the U.S.
