President-elect Donald Trump added a humorous twist to the ongoing mystery of drone sightings across New Jersey and neighboring states by posting a meme targeting former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.
The meme, shared on Trump’s Truth Social and X accounts on Saturday, depicts drones delivering McDonald’s food to Christie, who has faced criticism from Trump and others since becoming a vocal opponent of the president-elect.
The drone controversy began on November 18, when sightings of “SUV-sized” drones near sensitive military sites prompted the FAA to issue temporary flight restrictions in parts of New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

One of the restricted areas includes the airspace around Trump’s Bedminster golf club.
Reports of similar sightings have come from Connecticut, southeastern Pennsylvania, and other parts of the Northeast, sparking public concern and calls for transparency.
On Friday, Trump addressed the issue with a serious statement on Truth Social:
“Mystery Drone sightings all over the Country. Can this really be happening without our government’s knowledge. I don’t think so!” he wrote. “Let the public know, and now. Otherwise, shoot them down!!!”

The following day, Trump’s tone shifted to humor as he shared a meme ridiculing Christie, a former ally who has since become a vocal critic.

This is not the first time Trump has targeted Christie on social media, but the timing of the meme, amid the widespread drone mystery, added a unique twist to the ongoing public discourse.
Both the Biden administration and New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy have assured the public that the drones pose no known security risks.
“We haven’t seen anything unusual. We know of no threat,” said Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. “We have gone to Congress repeatedly asking for more authority to counter drone activity and we have also asked for more authority to give to the state and local officials under our supervision because it correctly notes those authorities need to be expanded.”
Despite these reassurances, frustration is growing among residents and lawmakers seeking answers.
New Jersey Assemblyman Brian Bergen criticized a recent briefing on the drone sightings involving federal, state, and local officials, calling it a waste of time.
“I walked out because it was worthless,” Bergen told NewsNation. “It was the biggest amateur hour presentation I’ve ever seen about anything. It was ridiculous. There were no answers. Every question that was asked by a member of the state legislature — great questions, no answers, no resolution. They don’t know where the drones are coming from.”

As the mystery drones continue to make headlines, Trump’s dual response — a mix of serious critique and sharp humor — has added another layer to the ongoing debate.
Residents and lawmakers alike are still waiting for clarity on the origins and purpose of the drones as the story continues to unfold.
