Rudy Giuliani, the former mayor of New York City, was held in contempt of court on Monday by Manhattan federal Judge Lewis Liman.
The ruling is part of an ongoing legal battle related to a $148 million defamation judgment against Giuliani, stemming from his false claims about Georgia election workers Ruby Freeman and her daughter, Wandrea “Shaye” Moss.
The case has intensified as the court examines whether Giuliani’s $3.5 million condo in Palm Beach, Florida and other assets can be seized to satisfy the judgment.

Giuliani has argued that the Florida property, his primary residence, should be exempt from collection.
Judge Liman found Giuliani in contempt twice for missing deadlines and failing to provide key information required for a trial set to begin on January 16.
It is disgraceful what the Biden administration and its Democrat cohorts have done to Rudy Giuliani.

The trial will determine if Giuliani must relinquish the Florida condo and other personal assets, including his collection of Yankees World Series rings.
One of the primary points of contention is Giuliani’s failure to turn over, by a December 20 deadline, a list of his “professional service providers,” including doctors and financial advisors, along with their associated addresses.
Additionally, Giuliani did not comply with a court order to produce emails and text messages related to his travel and evidence supporting his claim that Florida is his homestead.
“The defendant willfully violated an unambiguous order of the court,” Judge Liman stated during his ruling from the bench in Manhattan federal court.
While courts have the authority to impose fines or even jail time for contempt, Judge Liman did not impose such penalties on Monday.

Instead, he stated that during the upcoming trial, he would assume Giuliani’s list of service providers will show that “none of them” are based in Florida.
This assumption could significantly weaken Giuliani’s case to keep his Palm Beach property.
The judge expressed skepticism about Giuliani’s testimony, delivered over two days, in which he claimed to have made every effort to comply with the court’s discovery orders.
“The court puts very little weight on that self-serving testimony,” Judge Liman said.
The legal battle is not limited to the Florida condo.
Freeman and Moss have also sought to hold Giuliani in contempt for failing to transfer other assets, such as the title to his 1980 Mercedes convertible, once owned by actress Lauren Bacall.
Giuliani testified via video feed on Monday that he has located the title to the vehicle but needs to obtain a new title from the local Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to remove his ex-wife’s name.
Giuliani’s attorney, Joseph Cammarata, argued that the delay was due to bureaucratic hurdles, stating, “It’s not non-compliance, it’s cutting through a lot of red tape.”
Judge Liman, however, was unconvinced, responding, “It’s not hard.”
As the trial date approaches, the outcome could have significant financial implications for Giuliani, who continues to face mounting legal challenges and scrutiny over his actions following the 2020 presidential election.
