ABC’s Trump-hating anchor David Muir found himself in an embarrassing situation that has the internet buzzing. While reporting on the devastating Southern California wildfires, Muir’s apparent obsession with his appearance overshadowed the tragic events unfolding around him.

Firefighters attempt to extinguish a fire in a home along the Pacific Coast Highway in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood on Jan. 8, 2025. A wildfire broke out in Los Angeles County on Jan. 7, which has destroyed more than 1,000 homes, businesses and other structures, Los Angeles County Fire Chief Anthony Marrone said at a briefing Wednesday.

As reported by The Gateway Pundit, the raging inferno in Pacific Palisades has consumed over 3,000 acres, leaving residents scrambling for safety. Heartbreaking footage captured families fleeing their homes and abandoning cars as the fire engulfed the area.

Homes have been destroyed, livelihoods lost, and lives tragically taken, all while firefighters battle issues with water pressure in their desperate attempts to control the blaze.

ABC World News Tonight anchor, David Muir gives a speech after he is presented with the Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Journalism at by Arizona State University the Sheraton hotel on Feb. 8, 2024 in Downtown Phoenix, AZ.

Amid this tragedy, Muir’s on-the-ground report Wednesday evening aimed to shed light on the catastrophe. Instead, it revealed an awkward fashion blunder that has quickly become the talk of social media.

While gesturing to the destruction behind him, Muir unwittingly exposed wooden clothespins holding his jacket together, presumably to enhance his appearance for the camera.

“As you can see here behind me,” Muir said, turning to highlight the devastation. The unintended wardrobe reveal left viewers stunned—and not for the right reasons.

The internet wasted no time roasting the vain ABC anchor. One user commented, “Imagine thinking wooden clamps on your jacket would go unnoticed during a wildfire report.”

Another quipped, “Muir cared more about looking ‘marvelous’ than the actual story.”

“What an absolute tool,” stated a third user.

“What a loser.”

What a loser @DavidMuir

Sorry, not being nice here. He thinks he looks good 🙄 the fact that he cares how he looks at a time like this is really something

The backlash highlights a growing frustration with mainstream media figures prioritizing optics over substance. While thousands of Californians face unimaginable losses, Muir’s vanity became the unfortunate focal point of his coverage.

This isn’t the first time media elites like Muir have been called out for tone-deaf behavior. Their detachment from everyday Americans only serves to fuel distrust in corporate news outlets.

Meanwhile, the wildfire continues to wreak havoc, with no signs of slowing down. Residents are pleading for assistance as emergency crews battle the overwhelming blaze. The real story here isn’t Muir’s wardrobe malfunction—it’s the lives turned upside down by this disaster.

Perhaps next time, Muir can set aside his need to look camera-ready and focus on the real issues. Until then, social media users seem determined to hold him accountable for his misplaced priorities.
