One of President Joe Biden’s last acts in office is laced with a terrible irony.

On Monday, Biden honored one of the most incompetent and harmful presidents in American history. The president who was responsible for the Iraq invasion, the deaths of hundreds of thousands, who ripped apart American families and scarred veterans, who expanded the surveillance state and eroded civil liberties, all while throwing away trillions and trillions in tax dollars: George W. Along with Bush, Biden honored Bill Clinton, the most famous president to receive oral sex in the Oval Office and who oversaw another military disaster, the Battle of Mogadishu, by naming two future aircraft carriers after them. What lasting legacies to honor, and what a lasting legacy to leave: a warmonger and a philanderer.

“I am proud to announce that the next two Gerald R. Ford-class nuclear-powered aircraft carriers will be named for two former presidents: Bill Clinton and George W. Bush,” Biden said in a statement.

“When I personally delivered the news to Bill and George, they were deeply humbled,” he went on to say. “Each knows firsthand the weight of the responsibilities that come with being Commander-in-Chief. And both know well our duty to support the families and loved ones who wait and worry for the safe return of their servicemember.”

It’s certainly ironic to name an aircraft carrier after George “Mission Accomplished” Bush, whose insane and inept foreign policy brought death and destruction to millions across the Middle East. Here comes the USS George W. Bush, keeping America safe, and spreading freedom and democracy across the globe!

Maybe, we ought to name our aircraft carriers after the American war heroes killed in action, instead of naming them after the tyrant who sent them to die from the comfort of the Oval Office.
