During a recent episode of The View, co-host Joy Behar expressed her frustration with what she perceives as a lack of urgency in addressing climate change.
Behar criticized the Republican Party for rolling back measures aimed at combating the issue and called for individuals, particularly those in the public eye, to use their platforms to raise awareness.
“What really I’ve been thinking about all weekend is that people don’t seem to be taking climate change seriously,” Behar said.

She pointed to recent criticism of California Governor Gavin Newsom, including comments from former President Donald Trump, as an example of misplaced priorities. “You know, they can blame Newsom. I mean, Trump is calling him names already. You know, it’s so low level behavior.”
Behar emphasized the need for immediate action, warning that the effects of climate change could have devastating consequences.
“The truth of the matter is that the climate is changing, and the Republican Party keeps rolling back anything that will help the situation, and to me, that is an egregious assault on Mother Nature,” she said.
The View co-host referenced a vintage advertising campaign to drive home her point. “You know, there used to be an ad that’s not nice to fool with Mother Nature, but they should start running that again,” she remarked.
Behar also called for public figures to use high-profile events, such as award shows, to promote climate awareness.
“At this award shows, I think that if everybody who got up and received an award would also make a statement about the climate,” she suggested, emphasizing the power of influential voices in shaping public opinion.
Drawing a comparison to more immediate threats, Behar argued that climate change demands the same level of attention as a national crisis.
“If missiles were coming into the country, we would be all up in arms. This is like a slow death that we’re in right now with this climate change,” she said.
