Tensions between the Pelosi and Biden families have surfaced publicly following President Joe Biden’s decision to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race.
Alexandra Pelosi, daughter of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, expressed sharp criticism of First Lady Jill Biden, reportedly likening her to Shakespeare’s Lady Macbeth.

“If I was Lady McBiden, I’d put on my big girl pants, play the long game, and think about my husband’s legacy,” Alexandra Pelosi told Politico, suggesting that the Bidens should adopt a broader perspective on the president’s decision to step aside.
LOL. Nancy Pelosi’s daughter Alexandra blasts Jill Biden in Politico article.
“If I was Lady McBiden, I’d put on my big girl pants, play the long game and think about my husband’s legacy. There aren’t that many people left in America who have something nice to say about Joe…

The fallout comes after Jill Biden reportedly lamented the perceived betrayal from Nancy Pelosi, despite their families’ 50-year friendship. In a conversation with The Washington Post, Jill Biden expressed her disappointment.
“We were friends for 50 years,” the First Lady said. “It was disappointing.”
Nancy Pelosi had been a vocal advocate for Joe Biden to step out of the race, publicly questioning his viability after a poor debate performance in June.
Despite Biden’s insistence that he could defeat former President Donald Trump in another matchup, Pelosi reportedly lost confidence in his ability to secure reelection.
Pelosi met privately with Joe Biden at the White House on July 10, urging him to consider stepping aside, according to Politico.
While Pelosi maintained public praise for Biden’s legacy, describing him as a “Mount Rushmore kind of president,” her behind-the-scenes efforts reportedly helped push him toward exiting the race.
“He was in a good place to make whatever decision – the top of his game,” Pelosi said after Biden announced his withdrawal. “Such a consequential president of the United States.”
However, Alexandra Pelosi suggested the Bidens should be appreciative of her mother’s efforts to preserve the president’s legacy.
“There aren’t that many people left in America who have something nice to say about Joe Biden, and Nancy Pelosi is one of them,” she remarked.
Within Democratic circles, frustrations linger over Biden’s decision to remain in the race for as long as he did, despite mounting doubts about his campaign’s prospects.
Many Democrats were reportedly upset by his repeated claims that he could still defeat Trump, even as his poll numbers declined.
First Lady Jill Biden staunchly defended her husband, describing his debate performance as strong and praising his ability to answer every question.
The rift between the two political families appears to extend beyond politics.
When Nancy Pelosi suffered a hip injury during a trip to Europe in December, the Pelosi family reportedly noted that the Bidens did not reach out to offer their support.
Alexandra Pelosi, known for her documentary work, has been vocal about her mother’s efforts and legacy.
She directed a documentary about Nancy Pelosi in 2022, highlighting the former Speaker’s career as she stepped down from Democratic leadership.
While Nancy Pelosi publicly praises Biden’s accomplishments, the lingering tensions suggest a rift unlikely to heal soon.
