A video shared on X purports to show Israeli Knesset members crying over the recent Israel-Hamas ceasefire deal.

Verdict: Misleading

The claim is misleading, as the original video shows the Israeli Knesset members crying after watching raw footage of the Oct. 7, 2023 attack that sparked the Israel-Hamas War.

Fact Check:

Romi Gonen, Doron Steinbrecher, and Emily Damari were released by Hamas to the Red Cross as part of the recent Israel-Hamas ceasefire deal, according to CBS News. Following their release, the three women were handed over to the Israel Defense Forces for “initial wellness checks,” the outlet reported.

The X video purports to show Israeli Knesset members crying over the recent Israel-Hamas ceasefire deal. In the video, the Israeli Knesset members can be seen crying and comforting each other. “Knesset members cry over the ceasefire deal and Ben Gvir is gone,” the video’s caption reads.

The claim is misleading. Check Your Fact performed a keyword search for the claim, which led us to a Jan. 20 post shared on X indicating the video showed the Israeli Knesset members crying after seeing raw footage of the Oct. 7, 2023 attack that sparked the Israel-Hamas War.

The post features a screenshot from a November 2023 Times of Israel article in which the Israeli Knesset members can be seen crying. The same members shown in the X video appear in the screenshot from the Times of Israel article. (RELATED: Did The Maldives Ban Israelis From Entering The Country?)

In addition, a video of the Israeli Knesset members crying over the Oct. 7 attack footage has also been shared on YouTube.

“Watch.. Members of the Israeli Knesset cry after seeing scenes of Operation Flood of Al-Aqsa,” an English translation of the video’s caption reads.

Furthermore, Check Your Fact did not find the X video referenced in any credible news reports about the recent Israel-Hamas ceasefire deal. Actually, the opposite is true. On Jan. 21, Misbar debunked the claim, citing the same YouTube video showing the Israeli Knesset members.

Israel and Hamas recently agreed to a six-week ceasefire deal, according to Reuters. The terms of the deal include a “gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from central Gaza” as well as the release of 33 Israeli hostages, the outlet reported.
