A Florida man was arrested on Friday for allegedly making violent threats against President Donald Trump, according to authorities.

The suspect, identified as 46-year-old Shannon Depararro Atkins of West Palm Beach, reportedly made several alarming posts on social media targeting the president and was found in possession of illegal drugs during his arrest.

Authorities were tipped off to Atkins’ activity after he allegedly posted threatening messages on Facebook.

On January 19, the day before President Trump’s second inauguration, Atkins wrote, “America needs one good bullet to be saved.”

The same day, he allegedly confessed on his Facebook page that he had been banned from Elon Musk’s platform, X (formerly Twitter), for making violent remarks about the president.

“I’ve been banned from ‘X’ because I said I hope and pray someone kills him,” Atkins allegedly posted, referencing Trump.

“History is supposed to repeat itself. We haven’t had an assassination in years.”

Later that day, Atkins reportedly posted another message reading, “Bullets please. Please Jesus! Save America,” accompanied by an image calling the inauguration a “day of mourning.”

On Friday, Atkins allegedly shared a meme of President Trump with his late first wife, Ivana Trump, adding a row of smiling emojis and the caption, “I hope they get back together soon.”

Atkins was arrested at approximately 7:30 p.m. during a traffic stop in West Palm Beach.

According to police, he was found in possession of cocaine at the time of his arrest.

Authorities stated that Atkins admitted to making the violent posts during questioning.

He was taken to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Main Detention Center, where he is being held on a drug possession charge as well as one count of written or electronic threats to kill, do bodily injury, or conduct a mass shooting or act of terrorism.

The latter is classified as a second-degree felony under Florida law.

Records show that Atkins has been registered as a Democrat since at least 2008.

He is believed to own Big Mama’s House of Sweets, a baked goods shop located in West Palm Beach.

The arrest comes months after President Trump survived two assassination attempts, including an incident during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, in July, where a bullet grazed his ear.

This latest case has raised further concerns about threats against public officials and the role of social media in amplifying such rhetoric.

Atkins faces serious charges for his alleged actions.

Under Florida law, the charge of making written or electronic threats to kill or conduct a mass shooting carries significant penalties if convicted.

Law enforcement officials emphasized the importance of swiftly addressing any threats to ensure the safety of public officials and the general public.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office has not commented further on the case, and it remains unclear whether Atkins has obtained legal representation.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident.
