Phil McGraw, better known as Dr. Phil, recently accompanied former ICE Acting Director and border czar Tom Homan during Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations in the Chicago area.
The operation focused on the arrest and deportation of illegal aliens, including those with criminal records, as part of the Trump administration’s broader immigration enforcement efforts.
Homan began the day by briefing Dr. Phil at an ICE Command Center, addressing the misconceptions about the agency’s operations.

“Forget the false narrative of sweeping neighborhoods looking for people of different color than us. Forget that hogwash and look at what we actually did. We’re proving it to them. How can you argue with the system we’ve set up?” Homan said during the briefing.
The ICE operations align with the agency’s priority to target public safety threats, such as illegal aliens with criminal records, though Homan made it clear that any illegal alien encountered during these operations could face deportation.
During the briefing, Dr. Phil raised concerns often cited by critics of ICE enforcement.
“Well, straight up, are you going into schools and arresting children at schools? Is anything like that happening?” Dr. Phil asked.
“No,” Homan responded, explaining that deportation operations are sometimes carried out at businesses or other locations if necessary.
Dr. Phil pointed out that political decisions are often forcing ICE agents into communities rather than allowing them to make arrests in controlled environments such as jails.
“And what’s happening to me, it seems, that these politicians are creating what they fear the most, and that is forcing ICE agents into the community where they pick up the target and wind up picking up collaterals that may be around them as opposed to going to the jail where they just get the target and leave,” Dr. Phil said.
“If that’s the game they wanna play, game on,” Homan replied, emphasizing the agency’s commitment to public safety.
“We’re going to take that public safety threat off the street by any means necessary.”
Before the team departed for the scheduled apprehensions, Homan urged Dr. Phil to blur the faces of ICE officers to protect them from potential retaliation.
“I can tell you that these are bad actors that are doing things that are immediate, instant danger to anyone around them. I’m not going to say what they are right now because even describing it could be tipping off who we’re talking about,” Homan said.
He added, “We don’t want them harassed and targeted after the fact. And that has and does happen.”

Within an hour, the team arrived at the first location for an apprehension. One of the individuals taken into custody was a sex offender from Thailand, identified as Sam Seda.
Seda admitted he was not a U.S. citizen and had “been in the system before,” though he denied prior deportation.
When asked by Dr. Phil about past convictions involving child sex crimes, Seda initially responded, “Not really.” Homan instructed agents to proceed with the arrest, stating, “Lock him up.”
Homan used the incident to highlight the failures of sanctuary city policies.
“Well, this is an example of sanctuary cities, right? We got an illegal handling, convicted of sex crimes involving children. He’s walking the streets of Chicago. Again, the downfall, the problem with the sanctuary city that people like us walk in the street rather than like a law enforcement working with federal agents, this is what we’re dealing with,” Homan said.

The Chicago operation is one of many conducted by ICE under the Trump administration, which has made immigration enforcement a top priority.
Homan reiterated the agency’s focus on protecting public safety and enforcing federal immigration laws.
Dr. Phil’s participation in the operation shed light on the work of ICE agents and the challenges they face, particularly in areas with sanctuary city policies.
The arrest of the sex offender from Thailand served as an example of the public safety risks that Homan and ICE aim to address through these ongoing efforts.
