President Donald Trump announced on Friday that he is revoking Joe Biden’s security clearances and access to daily intelligence briefings, citing concerns over trust and national security.

Dennis Quaid’s #1 Warning for Americans

Trump, 78, made the announcement on Truth Social, arguing that Biden set the precedent by blocking him from receiving intelligence briefings in 2021.

“There is no need for Joe Biden to continue receiving access to classified information,” Trump wrote.

“Therefore, we are immediately revoking Joe Biden’s Security Clearances, and stopping his daily Intelligence Briefings.”

Trump pointed to Biden’s decision in 2021 to deny him access to national security details, which had been a customary courtesy for former presidents.

At the time, Biden justified his move by citing what he called Trump’s “erratic behavior.”

“He set this precedent in 2021, when he instructed the Intelligence Community (IC) to stop the 45th President of the United States (ME!) from accessing details on National Security,” Trump continued.

Speaking to The New York Post, Trump further explained his reasoning.

“Because I don’t trust him. He’s not worthy of trust … To safeguard national security,” he said.

Historically, former presidents and senior officials have retained access to classified information to allow a sitting president to seek their counsel on critical national security matters.

However, Biden, 82, broke from that tradition in February 2021 when he denied Trump access to intelligence briefings.

In an interview with CBS News at the time, Biden said, “I just think that there is no need for him to have that intelligence briefing. What value is giving him an intelligence briefing? What impact does he have at all, other than the fact he might slip and say something?”

Trump also pointed to the findings of Special Counsel Robert Hur’s investigation into Biden’s handling of classified documents.

The report determined that Biden “willfully retained and disclosed classified materials” after leaving office as vice president in 2016.

Hur ultimately did not recommend charges, noting that jurors might perceive Biden as a “sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.”

Trump referenced Hur’s report in his Truth Social post, stating that it influenced his decision to revoke Biden’s clearance.

“The Hur Report revealed that Biden suffers from ‘poor memory’ and, even in his ‘prime,’ could not be trusted with sensitive information,” he wrote.

“I will always protect our National Security — JOE, YOU’RE FIRED. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

When asked by The Post whether the Justice Department should investigate Biden, Trump responded, “I wouldn’t specifically.”

However, he added, “If something comes up, he’s certainly prime time for investigation … It’s not good what he did to our country.”

The decision to revoke Biden’s access marks a significant escalation in the tensions between the current and former presidents as the 2024 election cycle heats up.

While former presidents have traditionally been granted continued access to intelligence briefings, Trump’s move signals a shift in how national security privileges are handled post-presidency.
