The Democratic Party spent eight years, give or take, attempting to portray President Donald Trump as a fascist supervillain. By fear-mongering the end of democracy and labeling Trump its kryptonite, Democrats raked in millions, if not billions, in campaign contributions. But in November, when America handed Trump a mandate, it became clear their political strategy and hyperbolic rhetoric never really stuck — for long, at least.
