President Trump isn’t wasting any time tackling global conflicts. On Wednesday, he revealed that he and Russian President Vladimir Putin had agreed to begin negotiations to end the war in Ukraine—something the Biden administration has utterly failed to accomplish, as reported by The New York Post.
Trump, posting on Truth Social, emphasized the urgency of the situation, calling for an immediate stop to the massive loss of life in the war, which he asserted would have never happened under his leadership.
“We want to stop the millions of deaths taking place in the War with Russia/Ukraine. This would not have happened if I were President, but it did happen, so it must end. No more lives should be lost!”

The former president, now 78, announced that negotiations would kick off with a direct call to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
“The process will begin by calling President Zelenskyy of Ukraine to inform him of the conversation, something which I will be doing right now.”
He also unveiled his handpicked American delegation for peace talks, which includes Secretary of State Marco Rubio, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, National Security Adviser Mike Waltz, and Middle East special envoy Steve Witkoff.
Trump noted that his lengthy and productive discussion with Putin wasn’t just about Ukraine. The two leaders covered a range of critical topics, including the Middle East, energy policy, artificial intelligence, and the strength of the U.S. dollar.
Unlike the weak and disastrous handling of foreign relations under the current administration, Trump has already taken significant steps to restore American leadership on the world stage.
Both Trump and Putin acknowledged the deep history between their nations, recalling their cooperation during World War II.
“We both reflected on the Great History of our Nations, and the fact that we fought so successfully together in World War II, remembering that Russia lost tens of millions of people, and we, likewise, lost so many!”
In a moment that no doubt rattled the political establishment, Trump revealed that Putin even echoed his powerful campaign slogan: “COMMON SENSE.”
The shared belief in rational leadership and diplomacy stood in stark contrast to the chaotic, ideology-driven policies pushed by globalists in Washington and Brussels.
This major diplomatic breakthrough follows Trump’s successful negotiations in securing the release of American teacher Marc Fogel, who had been imprisoned in Russia.
The deal, which swapped Fogel for Russian crypto site leader Alexander Vinnik, was yet another example of Trump’s ability to get results—something Biden’s weak foreign policy has continuously failed to deliver.
Trump then stated:
“I just spoke to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine. The conversation went very well. He, like President Putin, wants to make PEACE.”
Meanwhile, Vice President JD Vance is preparing to meet with Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference in Germany this week. Additionally, Ukraine peace envoy Keith Kellogg will be engaging in high-level discussions in Europe.
Trump has also announced that Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent will be traveling to Ukraine to meet with Zelenskyy, fueling speculation that securing billions in rare-earth minerals may be part of the deal for ensuring Ukraine’s security.
