Verdict: False

There is no evidence this letter is genuine. The origin of this appears to be a cryptocurrency scheme.

Fact Check:

Social media users are claiming that President Donald Trump banned the use of the word felon the White House.

“In light of recent events, until further notice I am directing all staff, operations personnel, cabinet members and White House visitors to stop using the word “Felon” while inside the White House or on White House grounds, whether in conversation or in writing. Failure to comply with this directive will result in immediate expulsion and/or disciplinary action,” reads the alleged letter.

This claim is false. If Trump had issued such a letter, credible media outlets would have covered it, yet none have. A wider internet search and search of the White House website did not yield any results for this claim.

The origin of this appears to be a cryptocurrency scheme. The earliest Check Your Fact could find was a post from an account that calls itself a rogue White House adviser. It later shared a post promoting a cryptocurrency scheme connected to the use of the word felon.

Check Your Fact reached out to the White House for comment.
