President Donald Trump dismissed Air Force General CQ Brown from his role as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff on Friday, marking a significant shift in military leadership as part of an ongoing Pentagon personnel overhaul.
Brown, who has been a vocal advocate of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies, had previously faced criticism from conservative groups over his stance on race-based hiring and promotions within the military.

Following the announcement, Trump acknowledged Brown’s service but made clear that a change in leadership was necessary.
“I want to thank General Charles ‘CQ’ Brown for his over 40 years of service to our country, including as our current Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He is a fine gentleman and an outstanding leader, and I wish a great future for him and his family,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Brown, who has served in the military since 1984, was nominated by Trump in 2020 to be the Chief of Staff of the U.S. Air Force.
In 2023, Joe Biden appointed him as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, succeeding General Mark Milley.
His appointment sparked controversy due to his previous comments supporting DEI initiatives.
In a 2020 interview with the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, Brown emphasized the need for race-conscious hiring practices in the Air Force.
“All of us have to seek out those diverse candidates to bring them in. And that’s what we’re trying to do in the Air Force,” Brown said.
“It’s—you almost got to purposely manage some of this. You can’t let it—if you do it by happenstance, we won’t change.”
Brown also stated in the same interview that he made hiring decisions based on diversity considerations.
“I purposely build my office, my front office, and my team with [diversity], and I hire for diversity because they all bring a different perspective.”

He reiterated similar views in a December 2020 virtual town hall, stating that the military should take an active role in ensuring diversity among leadership and key positions.
In Brown’s place, Trump nominated Air Force Lieutenant General Dan “Razin” Caine as the next Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Announcing the decision on Truth Social, Trump praised Caine’s leadership and military experience.
“General Caine is an accomplished pilot, national security expert, successful entrepreneur, and a ‘warfighter’ with significant interagency and special operations experience,” Trump wrote.
Trump highlighted Caine’s role in his first administration, particularly in the military campaign against ISIS.
“It was done in record-setting time, a matter of weeks. Many so-called military ‘geniuses’ said it would take years to defeat ISIS,” Trump wrote. “General Caine, on the other hand, said it could be done quickly, and he delivered.”
Trump criticized the previous administration for passing over Caine for promotion.
“Despite his incredible track record, he was passed up for promotion by ‘Sleepy Joe Biden,’” Trump wrote.
“But not anymore! Alongside Secretary Pete Hegseth, General Caine and our military will restore peace through strength, put America First, and rebuild our military.”
Trump also signaled that additional leadership changes within the Department of Defense are on the horizon.
“I have also directed Secretary Hegseth to solicit nominations for five additional high-level positions, which will be announced soon,” Trump wrote.
With this shake-up at the Pentagon, Trump is making it clear that his administration is taking a new direction in military leadership, focusing on combat readiness and operational effectiveness over ideological initiatives.
Hey black liberals, I know you’re just as slow as your white counterparts, but President Trump didn’t fire General CQ Brown because he’s black. He fired him because he’s woke & dumb.
