Dan Bongino issued a stark warning to Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA) over the weekend, suggesting the congressman has reason to be concerned about his future.
Just a day later, President Donald Trump announced that Bongino would serve as deputy director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) under newly appointed FBI Director Kash Patel.
The timing has fueled speculation that Bongino’s remarks may have hinted at upcoming scrutiny for Schiff.
Dennis Quaid’s #1 Warning for Americans
Bongino, 50, made it clear that he has no intention of forgetting the Trump-Russia collusion hoax that Schiff helped push during Trump’s first term.
Speaking on his podcast, Bongino stressed that those responsible for spreading false allegations should not be allowed to escape accountability.
“I’m not letting this go. I wanna find out what happened because it can never happen again,” Bongino said.
“We had the FBI, in conjunction with the Department of Justice, officials in Congress, foreign governments, and intel people fabricate a story, invent a story that could have done serious and long-term harm to international relations with a nuclear-powered foe.”

Schiff played a leading role in the investigation into alleged collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian agents, frequently claiming he had seen “more than circumstantial evidence” of coordination.
In March 2017, while serving in the House of Representatives, Schiff backed the probe and continued to push the narrative even after the Republican-led House Intelligence Committee closed its investigation.
Despite years of media coverage and political maneuvering, the allegations collapsed in May 2023 when Special Counsel John Durham released his final report.
Durham concluded that no evidence supported the claim of collusion and criticized the FBI for its handling of the investigation, citing a “lack of analytical rigor” in its approach.
For Bongino, the damage caused by the false narrative is still fresh.
“You do not get to change the course of electoral politics by fabricating a story, hijacking the justice system to give a patina of truth to a fake story,” he said.
“Why do I bring that up now? Because who was the ringmaster of that circus? Yes, Adam Schiff and no, I’m not letting it go.”
Trump announced Bongino’s appointment on Sunday via Truth Social, stating that he would serve as Patel’s deputy to help reform the FBI.
The move aligns with Trump’s longstanding criticism of the agency, which he has accused of being politically weaponized against him.
During Trump’s first term, the FBI played a central role in investigating his campaign, and in August 2022, agents raided his Mar-a-Lago estate in search of classified documents.
That case was later dismissed, but the raid remains a sore point for Trump, who has vowed to overhaul the agency if re-elected.
Bongino, a former U.S. Secret Service agent who served from 1999 to 2011, has been an outspoken critic of federal law enforcement agencies, particularly in the wake of the July 2024 assassination attempt against Trump.
He sharply criticized the Secret Service for security lapses, leading to the resignation of its director and later its acting director. Sean Curran, the longtime head of Trump’s personal protective detail, has since taken over leadership of the agency.
In his announcement, Trump praised Bongino’s dedication to law enforcement and oversight, emphasizing his strong background in national security.
Bongino is “a highly respected Special Agent with the United States Secret Service, and is now one of the most successful Podcasters in the Country, something he is willing and prepared to give up in order to serve,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
“Working with our great new United States Attorney General, Pam Bondi, and Director Patel, Fairness, Justice, Law and Order will be brought back to America, and quickly. Congratulations Dan!”
With Bongino and Patel now leading the FBI, Trump’s supporters anticipate major changes within the agency, particularly regarding its past handling of politically charged investigations.
