U.S. National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard addressed concerns Tuesday regarding reports that some CIA agents may be considering selling classified information to foreign adversaries.
Speaking on Fox News’ Jesse Watters Primetime, Gabbard responded to speculation that disgruntled agents, upset over reforms led by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), might resort to espionage in protest.
During the interview, Gabbard criticized elements within the CIA for allegedly using media connections to issue indirect threats against national security.

“I am curious about how they think this is a good tactic to keep their job. They’re exposing themselves essentially by making this indirect threat using their propaganda arm through CNN that they’ve used over and over and over again to reveal their hand that their loyalty is not at all to America,” Gabbard stated.
She argued that such actions undermine the American people’s trust and run counter to constitutional principles.
“It is not to the American people or the Constitution. It is to themselves, and these are exactly the kind of people that we need to root out and get rid of so that the patriots who do work in this area, who are committed to our core mission, can actually focus on that,” she added.
Gabbard noted that efforts to address corruption and inefficiency within intelligence agencies have already led to more insiders stepping forward with information.

“I got to tell you that one of the byproducts of what I just saw literally today is because of this immediate action of transparency and accountability. I have people within the intelligence community reaching out to me personally and directly saying, ‘Hey, you need to know about this,’” Gabbard said.
“You need to look over here. People are stepping forward because they are all on board with the mission to clean house and refocus on our core mission of serving the American people.”
As part of broader efforts to streamline government operations, the CIA is reportedly considering its largest personnel reduction in nearly 50 years.
The agency is targeting officers involved in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, though specific numbers on expected terminations remain unclear.
In 1977, CIA Director Stansfield Turner dismissed 198 clandestine service officers in a significant restructuring of the agency.
In line with recent directives from the Trump administration, the CIA has already eliminated several DEI-focused groups, the agency confirmed to The Daily Caller.
Earlier this month, the CIA offered severance packages to all employees, becoming the first intelligence agency to introduce such an exit strategy.
According to Trump administration officials, the severance plan includes approximately eight months of salary and benefits.
The move is designed to encourage the voluntary departure of personnel who may not align with the administration’s policies.
With these changes underway, Gabbard continues to push for reforms that prioritize national security and efficiency, emphasizing the need for a committed intelligence workforce focused on serving the American people.
