The program, which the Biden administration justified as a humanitarian measure, has faced significant criticism for contributing to the surge of illegal migration.
Under the CHNV program, migrants were flown into the U.S. and granted temporary legal status, bypassing standard immigration procedures.
Thousands of individuals entered the country through this initiative before President Donald Trump halted the program upon taking office.
This case adds to growing concerns about the consequences of the Biden-Harris administration’s border policies.
Law enforcement officials and critics have pointed to cases like Darbouze’s as evidence of security risks associated with mass parole programs.
The Biden-era migrant policies remain under scrutiny as the Trump administration works to roll back the initiatives that contributed to record-high illegal immigration numbers.
Meanwhile, local authorities in North Carolina continue their investigation into the murders, and Darbouze remains in custody pending legal proceedings.
