Never one to miss an opportunity for self-promotion, former Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., is once again using President Donald Trump’s leadership to line her campaign war chest, as reported by Fox News.
This time, she’s fundraising off last week’s explosive Oval Office meeting between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy—a meeting that left globalists and their allies rattled.
Cheney’s group, Our Great Task, sent out an email blast smearing President Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and Department of Government Efficiency leader Elon Musk, accusing them of being “tools of the Kremlin.”

Apparently, according to Cheney, anyone who doesn’t blindly funnel billions into Ukraine’s endless war is now a Russian asset.
“Too many leaders in Washington are afraid to speak the truth, afraid to stand up for the fundamental values and institutions that safeguard our Republic. And now, Donald Trump is attempting to put America on Putin’s side as he continues his brutal assault on Ukraine,” the email read, parroting the same tired rhetoric that got her booted from Congress.
She went on to glorify NATO, calling it “the most successful military alliance in history,” and praised the Cold War-era foreign policy establishment that sent American dollars—and often soldiers—across the globe to fight other nations’ battles.
Unsurprisingly, Cheney is still clinging to the Bush-era interventionist playbook that Republican voters overwhelmingly rejected when they elected Trump in 2016 and again in 2024.

The former congresswoman continued her hysterics, painting Trump and his allies as reckless appeasers:
“Donald Trump, JD Vance and Elon Musk have made clear who they are. Only naive fools—or tools of the Kremlin—would abandon NATO, side with Russia, and demand Ukraine surrender in the face of Putin’s brutal aggression.”
Of course, her email ended with the predictable plea for donations, urging supporters to “help elect leaders of courage and honor.” Because nothing says “courage” like cozying up to defense contractors and sending American tax dollars to a country that has become a bottomless pit of foreign aid.
Meanwhile, the meeting that sparked Cheney’s outrage was anything but diplomatic. Zelenskyy, who arrived in Washington expecting another blank check, was instead shown the door by Trump’s foreign affairs team.
The Ukrainian president was hoping to secure additional security guarantees beyond a deal that grants the U.S. access to Ukraine’s rare earth minerals—a deal Trump’s administration sees as a win for American interests.
But the talks quickly turned tense, with Trump pushing back on Zelenskyy’s demands and warning that continued escalation could lead to World War III.
Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick summed it up best in a weekend interview, calling Zelenskyy’s demands “ridiculous” and “not reasonable.” The rift further exposed the deep divide within the GOP, with a shrinking faction still clinging to the pro-Ukraine narrative.
Rep. Don Bacon, R-Neb., bizarrely compared Trump and Vance to Cold War-era Democrats who favored Soviet appeasement, while others, like Reps. Mike Lawler, R-N.Y., and Brian Fitzpatrick, R-Pa., lamented that Russia had come out ahead but stopped short of blaming Trump.
Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., who has walked a fine line between backing Trump and supporting Ukraine, praised the president’s handling of the situation and suggested that maybe it’s Zelenskyy, not Trump, who should rethink his leadership.
As Cheney shamelessly capitalizes on the moment, one thing is clear: the establishment’s grip on the GOP is slipping, and their panic is showing. Trump isn’t playing by their rules—and neither are the American people.
