Former White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre found herself in the hot seat on ABC’s “The View” as co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin repeatedly pressed her on whether she actually believed Joe Biden could have won re-election after getting trounced by President Donald Trump in their first and only debate.
As The Independent Journal Review reported, the disastrous June 27 debate performance sent the Democratic Party into full-blown panic mode.
Biden’s feeble display not only confirmed long-standing concerns about his mental decline but also triggered widespread calls from within his own party for him to step aside.

Ultimately, the pressure worked, and Biden bowed out, endorsing former Vice President Kamala Harris—who then proceeded to lose the election to Trump in a landslide.
Griffin wasted no time cutting to the heart of the matter.
“Do you believe that Joe Biden would’ve won if he had stayed in? And a follow-up to that, do you think Kamala Harris would have had a better shot had she had more time?”
Jean-Pierre, clearly uncomfortable, sidestepped the question.
“Look, I was asked a question, I answered it honestly and how I felt at the moment. I was the one going to the podium almost every day after that happened, and it was shocking what I saw. But I also—I can’t speculate. I don’t know what would’ve happened, and anybody who says they do, they don’t really know. And so I don’t want to rehash the past, I don’t think that’s a good idea.”
She attempted redirecting the conversation.
“Right now, again, fire alarm fire, we need to move with strategy, with focus, and we need—the Democratic Party needs to actually answer those questions that I put forth: Who are we, and who are we fighting for?”
But Griffin wasn’t about to let Jean-Pierre off the hook. She pushed further, questioning whether Jean-Pierre had any insight into the grim polling numbers that indicated Biden was heading for a historic defeat.
“As press secretary, you were also an assistant to the president, so that meant that you were able to interact with the campaign off time.”
Jean-Pierre denied any insider knowledge, but before she could flail her way through another deflection, the show abruptly cut to a commercial break—convenient timing for a White House alum who suddenly had nothing to say.
Biden’s polling numbers had been an unmitigated disaster well before the debate debacle, with major swing-state surveys consistently showing him trailing Trump.
Panic spread among Democrats, with nearly 40 congressional members publicly urging him to step aside. Even Democrat power brokers like Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi reportedly worked behind the scenes to push him out.
Jean-Pierre had previously dismissed concerns about Biden’s mental acuity, infamously brushing off troubling video clips as “cheap fakes.” Even after the president’s debate meltdown, she insisted his “bad night” had nothing to do with his health.
But once Biden finally caved to the internal revolt and withdrew from the race, Jean-Pierre quickly pivoted, declaring that his decision was “the right thing” for the country.
Of course, Biden’s exit only made it official: Democrats had been propping up a failing candidate for years, and the American people saw right through it. And as for Harris? The voters sent a clear message—she wasn’t any better.
