Second Lady Usha Vance has been tapped to lead the U.S. presidential delegation at the 2025 Special Olympics World Winter Games in Italy, President Donald Trump’s office announced Thursday.

Vance, a lawyer and wife of Vice President JD Vance, will head the delegation traveling to Turin, the host city for this year’s Games, as reported by The New York Post.

Vice President JD Vance and his wife Usha Vance take the stage with their children during the inauguration parade for President Donald Trump at Capital One Arena in Washington D.C., on Monday, Jan. 20, 2025.

The opening ceremony is set for Friday, marking the beginning of an event that brings together athletes from around the world to compete and celebrate perseverance, skill, and sportsmanship.

As the mother of three children and a dedicated professional, Usha Vance has long been an advocate for strong family values and opportunities for all Americans.

Her leadership in this delegation underscores the Trump administration’s commitment to recognizing the hard work and achievements of these exceptional athletes.

Earlier this week, Usha Vance made headlines when she was seated next to former high school volleyball player Payton McNabb during President Trump’s address to a joint session of Congress.

Usha Vance, second from left, arrives ahead of President Trump’s address to a joint session.

McNabb, an outspoken critic of biological males competing in women’s sports, has been vocal about the Senate’s failure to codify Trump’s executive order protecting female athletes.

Speaking to Fox News Digital, McNabb expressed her deep disappointment. “Last night, just overall, the Democrat Party was so disrespectful,” she said, calling out liberal lawmakers who wore pink during the address in what many saw as a politically motivated stunt.

“They didn’t stand up for any of the guests. They didn’t stand up for DJ Daniel, the young boy who survived brain cancer. They didn’t stand up for Laken Riley’s family, whose daughter suffered a horrific and preventable death. And every other guest there had a powerful story, and they didn’t clap for any of it.”

McNabb concluded by saying, “So, it was heartbreaking, and honestly, I wish I could say I was surprised, but I’m not.”

The White House also released the names of others joining Vance in the presidential delegation. The group includes:

  • Shawn Crowley, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. at the U.S. Embassy to Italy and San Marino
  • T.H. Trent Michael Morse, Deputy Assistant to the President and Deputy Director of Presidential Personnel
  • Riley M. Barnes, Senior Bureau Official of the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor, U.S. Department of State
  • Douglass Benning, Consul General at the U.S. Consulate in Milan, Italy
  • Rachel Campos-Duffy, co-host of “Fox & Friends Weekend” and wife of U.S. Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy
  • Boris Epshteyn, Senior Counsel and Senior Advisor to President Donald Trump
  • Richard Walters, Partner at FGS Global

The selection of Usha Vance to lead the delegation is yet another example of the Trump administration’s dedication to honoring and uplifting those who embody the values of perseverance and excellence.

While the left continues to grandstand and engage in performative politics, conservatives remain focused on celebrating true achievement and supporting those who deserve recognition.
