FACT CHECK: Claim That Kash Patel Has Ordered Investigations Of 13 Congressional Democrats Is Satire

A post shared on Facebook claims Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Kash Patel has purportedly ordered investigations of 13 congressional Democrats for allegedly “inciting violence” against President Donald Trump.

The claim is false and originally stems from a March 6 post shared by “America’s Last Line of Defense,” which is a satirical Facebook page.

Fact Check:

Patel said he “will do everything as the director of the FBI” to bring home Americans who are being detained in foreign countries, according to The Associated Press. Patel made the remark during an event recognizing the second-ever U.S. Hostage and Wrongful Detainee Day, the outlet reported.

The Facebook post claims Patel has purportedly ordered investigations into 13 congressional Democrats for allegedly “inciting violence” against Trump. “Kash Patel orders investigations into 13 congressional Democrats for inciting violence against Trump. ‘They put him in real danger, and they did it on purpose,’” the post, which features a photo of Patel, reads. The post does not name the 13 congressional Democrats purportedly being investigated.

The claim is false and originally stems from a March 6 post shared by “America’s Last Line of Defense,” which is a satirical Facebook page. The Facebook page describes itself as “the flagship of the ALLOD network of trollery and propaganda for cash” before reiterating that “nothing on this page is real.”

Likewise, the FBI neither appears to have issued a press release or a social media statement referencing the claim. Patel has not publicly commented on the claim using his personal or government X accounts. Trump has not addressed the claim, either.
