The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has announced updates to its immigration processing app, now allowing illegal aliens to voluntarily initiate their own deportation process.
The change comes as part of the agency’s compliance with President Donald Trump’s executive order on border security.
In an update posted Monday on the agency’s website, CBP introduced a new feature, “Intent to Depart,” to the rebranded CBP Home app.

The feature provides a structured process for illegal aliens or those whose parole has been revoked to notify the U.S. government of their plans to leave the country.
“The application has a new feature – Intent to Depart – which offers unlawfully present aliens or those aliens whose parole has been revoked an orderly and defined voluntary process to notify the U.S. Government of their intent to depart the United States,” CBP stated.
“This new feature is a necessary tool to comply with the President’s Executive Order 14159, Protecting the American People Against Invasion.”
The CBP app was originally launched in 2021 under the Biden-Harris administration as CBP One and was intended to assist migrants in scheduling asylum hearings while also aiming to reduce illegal crossings.

However, critics argued that it effectively facilitated the entry of an estimated one million people into the United States while their asylum requests were processed.
After President Trump took office in January, his administration shut down CBP One and later repurposed it as CBP Home in alignment with his stricter immigration policies.
In addition to the self-deportation feature, the app also now allows travelers to the U.S. to:
- Apply and pay for I-94 travel documents, which grant temporary visitor status.
- Check border security wait times at entry points.
- Request inspections for perishable cargo to expedite shipments.
- Submit traveler manifests for bus drivers.

Acting CBP Commissioner Pete Flores emphasized that the updated app supports enforcement efforts and helps illegal aliensleave before facing stricter penalties.
“CBP Home App strengthens our mission to secure the U.S. border by ensuring lawful entry for travelers and supporting effective enforcement,” Flores said.
“The app provides illegal aliens in the United States with a straightforward way to declare their intent to voluntarily depart, offering them the chance to leave before facing harsher consequences. This reinforces our commitment to enforcing U.S. laws and safeguarding national security.”
The Trump administration’s approach marks a stark shift from previous policies, prioritizing strict enforcement and reducing the backlog of migrants waiting for asylum proceedings.
The administration has also moved to end large-scale parole programs and increase deportations for those in the country illegally.
By integrating self-deportation options into CBP’s digital systems, the administration aims to streamline border security operations and encourage illegal aliens to leave voluntarily rather than be subjected to removal orders.
The restructured CBP Home app reflects broader efforts by the administration to tighten border policies and reassert control over immigration enforcement at a time when illegal crossings remain a significant issue at the southern border.
