White House Visit Confirmed [WATCH]

The Philadelphia Eagles are heading to the White House to celebrate their Super Bowl LIX triumph over the Kansas City Chiefs, and this time, there’s no controversy—just an enthusiastic acceptance of President Donald Trump’s invitation, as reported by Fox News.

“We sent the invite and they enthusiastically accepted. We are working with them to determine a date and logistics,” a White House official told Fox News Digital.

The Eagles organization also confirmed their plans, stating they are coordinating with the administration to finalize details for the visit.

This marks a stark contrast from 2018, when the Eagles were invited to the White House after winning their first-ever Super Bowl but opted out due to political tensions.

Back then, Trump didn’t waste time rescinding the invitation after multiple players signaled they wouldn’t attend, primarily over the president’s condemnation of anthem protests.

Trump, never one to tolerate disrespect for the flag, made it clear that players unwilling to stand for the National Anthem wouldn’t be welcomed for a White House celebration.

Fast forward seven years, and the Eagles are singing a different tune. Trump, now serving as the 47th President of the United States, was present at the Caesars Superdome last month when the Eagles took down the Chiefs 40-22, securing their second Lombardi Trophy.

Shortly after the win, he told The Spectator that the Eagles would indeed be making the trip to Washington.

“They’re coming here. Philadelphia is coming here,” Trump stated plainly.

The official invite followed soon after. “They will be [invited]. We haven’t yet, but we will be,” Trump had said right after the game.

“I thought it was a great performance by them. Absolutely, they’ll be extended an invitation. We’ll do it right away. We’ll do it some time today. They deserve to be down here, and we hope to see them.”

Eagles captain Lane Johnson addressed the possibility of a White House visit before the team received the invitation, making it clear that it would be a collective decision.

“I’d be honored to go, regardless of who the president is, but we’ll see,” Johnson said via Sportico’s Eric Jackson. “It’s ultimately a team decision. I’ll do what’s best for the team.”

Johnson, a key figure on both of the Eagles’ Super Bowl-winning squads, knows firsthand the fallout from 2018.

That year, Trump took a firm stance against the anthem protests that were being championed by some players, making it clear that he expected athletes to respect the flag and the men and women who fought for it.

When players declined the invitation, Trump cut to the chase, pulling it entirely, stating that “the 1,000 fans planning to attend the event deserve better.”

Now, with Trump back in the White House and the Eagles ready to celebrate their championship win, the political drama that once plagued this tradition seems to have taken a backseat.

All that’s left to finalize are the scheduling details, and then Philadelphia’s finest will take their rightful place in the White House for a long-overdue celebration of their victory.
