A Biden-era official is making waves after being shown the door by President Trump’s Justice Department.
Elizabeth Oyer, the now-former U.S. Pardon Attorney, is crying foul, claiming she was fired for refusing to restore actor Mel Gibson’s Second Amendment rights, as reported by The Gateway Pundit.
Last week, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, recently confirmed under the Trump administration, fired Oyer. In an interview with The New York Times, Oyer suggested her termination was directly linked to her refusal to recommend that Gibson regain his firearm rights.

Elon Musk Called This Financial News ‘Terrifying’
Gibson, a Hollywood icon known for his conservative leanings, has been barred from gun ownership since a 2011 no contest plea to a misdemeanor battery charge involving his ex-girlfriend.
Despite completing his sentence long ago, Democrats and their allies continue to use this as a pretext to keep him from exercising his constitutional rights.

Oyer, however, doubled down on her stance, telling The Times:
“Giving guns back to domestic abusers is a serious matter that, in my view, is not something that I could recommend lightly because there are real consequences that flow from people who have a history of domestic violence being in possession of firearms.”
Her accusations, of course, were met with pushback from Justice Department officials. A DOJ representative, speaking to ABC News anonymously, dismissed Oyer’s claims, stating that her removal had nothing to do with the Gibson matter.
According to ABC News, Oyer claimed that the push for Gibson’s reinstated rights came at the eleventh hour, with the actor’s legal team directly appealing to senior DOJ officials.

She further alleged that a high-ranking official in Blanche’s office urged her to reconsider because of Gibson’s “close personal relationship” with President Trump.
But let’s not pretend Oyer was some neutral figure simply enforcing the law. As a Biden-era appointee, her reluctance to approve a pardon or gun rights restoration for a conservative-leaning celebrity is hardly surprising.
Meanwhile, leftist elites in Hollywood and politics never seem to face the same scrutiny.
While Oyer paints herself as a martyr for justice, her claim conveniently ignores the fact that the Biden DOJ was more than happy to extend clemency to violent criminals when it suited their political goals.
But when it comes to a high-profile conservative who has paid his dues, the goalposts suddenly move.
Ultimately, the Justice Department’s decision to remove Oyer signals a shift under the Trump administration, ensuring that political bias no longer dictates legal decisions.

Whether Mel Gibson ultimately regains his Second Amendment rights remains to be seen, but Oyer’s public meltdown over her firing makes one thing clear—Trump’s DOJ won’t be catering to left-wing bureaucrats who refuse to uphold fairness in the process.
