A post shared on Facebook claims the U.S. Navy Judge Advocate General’s (JAG) Corps has purportedly arrested Soros-funded agitators for disrupting multiple Republican town halls events, including one in North Carolina featuring Rep. Chuck Edwards.

The claim is false and originally stems from a March 14 article published on the satire site “Real Raw News.” A spokesperson for Navy JAG denied the claim’s validity in an email to Check Your Fact.
Fact Check:
A veteran who attended a town hall event featuring Edwards in North Carolina was escorted out after he shouted obscenities at the Republican lawmaker, according to The Hill. The attended told Edwards “you don’t give a f–k about me” and accused him of lying, the outlet reported.
The Facebook post claims Navy JAG has purportedly arrested Soros-funded agitators for disrupting multiple Republican town hall events, including one in North Carolina featuring Edwards. According to the same post, Navy JAG purportedly used facial recognition to identify the protestors seen in videos from the town hall events. Navy JAG also supposedly found social media posts made by the protestors in which they claimed they were members of Antifa funded by philanthropist George Soros.
The claim is false and originally stems from a March 14 article published on the satire site “Real Raw News.” A “Disclaimer” included on the site’s “About Us” page indicates its content is not meant to be taken literally. “Information on this website is for informational and educational and entertainment purposes. This website contains humor, parody, and satire. We have included this disclaimer for our protection, on the advice [of] legal counsel,” the disclaimer reads.
Likewise, Check Your Fact did not find any reference to the claim on Navy JAG’s website or its verified social media accounts. In addition, neither Soros nor Edwards appear to have publicly commented on the claim.

Furthermore, Patricia Babb, a spokesperson for Navy JAG, denied the claim’s validity in an email to Check Your Fact.
“This is not true,” Babb said of the claim.
