March for Our Lives, the gun control organization founded in the wake of the 2018 Parkland shooting, is facing significant financial challenges, leading to the layoffs of 13 out of its 16 full-time employees.

The decision, made last week, marks a major setback for the group, which was once one of the most prominent voices in the gun control movement.

In a statement to The 19th, Jaclyn Corin, a 24-year-old Parkland survivor and co-founder of March for Our Lives, expressed the tough realities the organization is facing.

Elon Musk Called This Financial News ‘Terrifying’

“We are facing financial challenges as an organization, not unlike many nonprofit advocacy organizations in this time,” Corin said.

“I am sure things would look differently with a different outcome of the election, but these are the systems and circumstances in which we have to make adjustments based on the financial situation we find ourselves in. It is incredibly unfortunate that these cuts have to happen.”

“March For Our Lives is slashing its employees and appointing a new leader.

March for Our Lives, which gained national attention after the Parkland shooting, quickly became a major force in the push for stricter gun control laws.

The group has focused on mobilizing young Americans to advocate for gun control measures, making it a unique voice in the larger gun control debate.

Despite its initial success, the group has struggled in recent years to maintain its momentum.

The layoffs come at a critical time for the organization, with the 2026 election cycle looming.

With most of its staff now gone, it is unclear how the group will maintain its influence as it heads into the midterm elections.

The decision to cut staff also follows a long period of decline after the organization’s early rise to prominence.

The news of the layoffs also comes amid broader discussions about the sustainability of left-wing advocacy organizations, many of which have faced financial struggles in recent years.

Some critics have pointed to various political and financial pressures that may be contributing to the decline of these groups, raising questions about the future of gun control advocacy in the United States.

As March for Our Lives seeks to navigate these challenges, it faces an uphill battle in a political environment where the gun control movement has seen limited success in recent years.

As the group adjusts to its new reality, it remains to be seen whether it can regain the influence it once had or if its decline will continue.
