The illegal immigrant at the center of the controversial arrest of a Wisconsin judge has been accused of violently assaulting multiple people in a dispute over loud music, according to federal authorities.

Eduardo Flores-Ruiz, a 29-year-old Mexican citizen, allegedly punched his roommate in the face 30 times and assaulted two others during a March 12 incident.

Flores-Ruiz appeared before Milwaukee County Judge Hannah Dugan on April 18 to face charges related to the attack.

During that court appearance, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents were present with the intent to arrest him.

However, federal authorities allege that Judge Dugan allowed Flores-Ruiz to evade detention by slipping through a side door.

According to ICE, Flores-Ruiz had previously entered the United States illegally on two occasions and has a criminal history that includes charges of strangulation, suffocation, battery, and domestic abuse.

“Since President Trump was inaugurated, activist judges have tried to obstruct President Trump and the American people’s mandate to make America safe and secure our homeland— but this judge’s actions to shield an accused violent criminal illegal alien from justice is shocking and shameful,” said DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin.

Flores-Ruiz is currently charged with three counts of misdemeanor battery stemming from the March 12 assault.

According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the incident began when Flores-Ruiz’s roommate requested that he lower the volume of his music.

In response, Flores-Ruiz allegedly punched the man approximately 30 times with a closed fist.

The roommate’s girlfriend was also assaulted, forced into the kitchen and struck on her head and arm, while a third person was attacked while trying to intervene, WISN-TV reported.

Flores-Ruiz had been renting a room in the Milwaukee home for about two years.

A resident of the home, speaking anonymously through an interpreter, told reporters they still feared retaliation from Flores-Ruiz’s associates.

“His friends know me and know that he lived here,” the resident said.

“They know me and that’s why I’m afraid something can happen to me.”

In court, Flores-Ruiz pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Details surrounding Judge Dugan’s alleged obstruction were revealed by Chief Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Carl Ashley.

According to Ashley, six ICE agents arrived at the courthouse, identified themselves, and presented a warrant for Flores-Ruiz’s arrest.

They were asked to wait until after the court proceedings and complied with that request.

While ICE agents waited outside Dugan’s courtroom, Dugan allegedly allowed Flores-Ruiz and his attorney to exit the courtroom through a side door, leading into a private hallway and then into a public area of the courthouse.

According to a federal complaint, one ICE agent spotted Flores-Ruiz and his attorney leaving and followed them into an elevator while calling for backup.

Flores-Ruiz attempted to flee but was apprehended after a brief chase.

“Judge Dugan intentionally misdirected ICE agents away from this criminal illegal alien to obstruct the arrest and try to help him evade arrest. Thankfully, our FBI partners chased down this illegal alien, arrested him, and removed him from American communities,” ICE stated following Dugan’s arrest.

FBI agents returned to the Milwaukee courthouse on April 25 and arrested Dugan.

She later appeared in federal court and was released pending further proceedings.

Dugan faces charges of “concealing an individual to prevent his discovery and arrest” and “obstructing or impeding a proceeding.”

Her attorney, Craig Mastantuono, said in a statement, “Judge Dugan wholeheartedly regrets and protests her arrest. It was not made in the interest of public safety.”
