The Grandpa Gang Shuffles Into Court Over Kim Kardashian’s $10 Million Heist [WATCH]

A new podcast from the Mail’s award-winning “The Trial” series has launched, featuring coverage of the Paris trial of 10 suspects accused of orchestrating the 2016 robbery of Kim Kardashian, as reported by The Daily Mail.

The podcast, hosted by crime correspondent Caroline Cheetham and reporter Nick Fagge, details the opening revelations from the highly anticipated proceedings.

During Paris Fashion Week in October 2016, individuals posing as police officers entered Kardashian’s hotel room, gagged her, and stole approximately $10 million worth of jewelry.

The robbers tied Kardashian up in the bathtub before fleeing the scene on bicycles. Kardashian, after freeing herself, contacted police from her stylist’s hotel room next door. She left France shortly after providing her initial statement.

According to testimony presented on the first day of the trial, a celebrity fixer named Gary Madar, one of the accused, allegedly provided information about Kardashian’s movements, particularly times when she was without her bodyguard.

Madar reportedly learned the information from his brother Michael, who was employed as Kardashian’s chauffeur during her stay in Paris.

Cheetham explained that police claim Madar passed the details to another suspect, Flo Heroui, a bar owner frequented by members of the group. Authorities were able to track the suspects by monitoring their movements and mobile phone locations.

DNA evidence recovered from the zip ties used to restrain Kardashian also played a key role in identifying several of the suspects.

French media dubbed the group the “grandpa gang” due to the advanced age of many of the defendants, several of whom are in their sixties and seventies. Two suspects, Aït “Omar” Khedache, 70, and Yunice Abbas, 71, have already partially confessed to participating in the robbery.

Fagge described the defendants as appearing frail during court proceedings held in the historic Voltaire room in central Paris.

Khedache, who has poor hearing and failing eyesight, was able to respond to court questions only with written answers. Abbas was described as “short, squat, and bald,” resembling a “bad-tempered bull terrier.”

Despite the global attention the crime attracted, it has been suggested that some of the suspects may not have known who Kardashian was at the time of the robbery.

If convicted, those facing the most serious charges could receive sentences ranging from 10 years to life imprisonment. Kardashian is expected to submit a statement to the court during the month-long trial.
