Tucker Carlson offered pointed commentary about former First Lady Michelle Obama and her relationship with former President Barack Obama during an appearance on The Megyn Kelly Show, suggesting that Michelle harbors resentment toward her husband and linking what he described as “unhappy marriages” to broader societal problems.
Carlson, who formerly hosted a prime-time show on Fox News, told Kelly that he believes Michelle Obama “really dislikes her husband,” and that “it’s super obvious.”
He added, “I’m not just saying that to be catty… I think I’m trying to feel compassion for her, but her hostility toward the guy is unbelievable.”

The discussion centered on public speculation about the Obamas’ 32-year marriage, which has faced renewed scrutiny following recent interviews by Michelle Obama and comments by President Obama referencing a “deep deficit” in their relationship.
Carlson claimed that Michelle’s demeanor and comments about her marriage are emblematic of a larger issue.
“There’s nothing more destabilizing than an unhappy marriage,” Carlson said.
“She’s like a freak show and it’s easy to make fun of her and I enjoy it, but I do think it’s a whole class of people who are afflicted with the same kind of restlessness and rage and emptiness and they’re the ones wrecking our society.”

Kelly agreed, saying, “Everything Michelle says about her husband is negative.”
She compared it to her own relationship, stating, “I almost never say negative things about Doug. He’s not perfect but when I think about him, I don’t immediately go to whatever is negative. I go to what’s positive and what I love about him.”

Michelle Obama has publicly discussed the challenges of her marriage, including on her podcast In My Opinion, which she co-hosts with her brother Craig Robinson.
In past interviews and public appearances, she has spoken candidly about her husband’s ambition, their early financial struggles, and the difficulty of adjusting to political life.
In one episode of actress Sophia Bush’s podcast earlier this month, Michelle addressed growing speculation about her marriage, particularly her absence from high-profile events like President Donald Trump’s inauguration and the funeral of former President Jimmy Carter.
Addressing the rumors directly, Michelle said, “So much so that this year, people couldn’t even fathom that I was making a choice for myself. They had to assume that my husband and I are divorcing.” She added, “That this couldn’t be a grown woman just making a set of decisions for herself, right?”
She also pushed back on how her public persona has been framed by critics and the media.
“The first label they put on us as Black women is that we are angry,” she said. “The irony is, like, yeah. I am probably less light than many of my white female friends.”
The former first lady has also expressed frustration with how the media portrayed her during the Obama presidency, citing one journalist’s claim that she was “emasculating” her husband simply by speaking candidly about her experiences.
Despite the speculation, the Obamas have been seen dining together in Washington, D.C., on two separate occasions in the last month.
