Duffy Torches Biden, Buttigieg for Ignoring Explosive FAA Warning [WATCH]

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy is raising alarm over the Biden administration’s inaction on longstanding warnings about the deteriorating state of the nation’s air traffic control infrastructure, as reported by Fox News.

Duffy pointed to a September 2024 report from the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) that identified multiple critical systems within the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as outdated and unsustainable.

In a post on X Tuesday, Duffy cited the GAO report titled “Air Traffic Control: FAA Actions Are Urgently Needed to Modernize Aging Systems”, which warned that 17 major air traffic control systems were at serious risk of failure.

The report evaluated systems based on their age, sustainability, operational importance, and plans for replacement. It concluded that the FAA “has been slow to modernize some of the most critical and at-risk systems.”

According to the report, the 17 systems in question range from 2 to 50 years old and are considered unsustainable despite being vital to national airspace safety.

Duffy, who assumed the Transportation Secretary role earlier this year under President Donald Trump, said he is working directly with the administration to implement comprehensive modernization.

“Working with @POTUS, we are going to do what no administration has done: deliver an all-new, envy of the world ATC system,” Duffy posted.

The renewed attention comes amid recent disruptions in U.S. airspace. Newark Liberty International Airport has experienced widespread delays and cancellations over the past week.

On Monday, it was reported that air traffic controllers in Philadelphia lost both radar and radio signals temporarily while managing flights bound for Newark—raising new concerns about the FAA’s current capabilities.

Speaking with Martha MacCallum on Fox News’ The Story, Duffy emphasized that the Biden administration had access to the same warning signs but failed to act.

“It wasn’t shocking to Joe Biden and it wasn’t shocking to Pete Buttigieg,” Duffy said. “They knew we had an old system. They saw the GAO report saying it was about to fail.”

Duffy also revealed that he plans to introduce legislation to Congress in the near future to address the crisis.

“[In January] I started digging into the FAA and realized it wasn’t just one small part of the infrastructure,” he told Fox News. “It was the whole infrastructure that had to be built brand new. And so I’ve developed a plan. I’ve talked to the president. He has signed off on the plan.”
