More than 130 illegal immigrants from Central Asia were deported by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on April 29, including several individuals with violent criminal histories, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

As The New York Post reported, the flight, which departed from New York, returned most of the deportees to Uzbekistan, while others were sent to Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.

Among the 90 Uzbek nationals on the flight was Kobiljon Nomoz Ugli Makhmudov, who was convicted of attempted abduction in January. Makhmudov had been arrested in Blue Ash, Ohio, in 2022 on charges of kidnapping and robbery.

Another deportee, Oleg Korsuntsev, had a lengthy criminal record spanning over a decade.

He was first arrested in 2008 for attempted assault, again in 2009 for criminal mischief, and most recently in 2019 for first-degree attempted assault in Brooklyn, New York.

Burkhon Achilov, also returned to Uzbekistan, was convicted in January of breaking and entering and resisting arrest in Warren County, Ohio. He served nearly 300 days in jail before being processed for removal.

DHS officials stated that Uzbekistan covered the cost of transporting its nationals back to their home country. The repatriation effort was carried out in coordination with the government of Uzbekistan.

“The Department of Homeland Security’s coordination with the government of Uzbekistan was instrumental in the successful removal of these individuals,” said Brian McShane, Enforcement and Removal Operations Philadelphia Field Office Director.

“It is precisely this kind of leadership that enables ICE to continue to fulfill its mission of protecting the American public by ensuring that our immigration enforcement efforts uphold safety and security for communities across the country.”

Migrants from Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan were also among those removed on the April 29 flight.

The operation is part of the Trump administration’s continued focus on targeting illegal immigrants with criminal convictions for deportation.

Since President Trump took office on January 20, over 100,000 individuals have been deported through similar enforcement actions.

ICE emphasized that such efforts are designed to prioritize public safety by removing individuals who pose a threat due to their criminal conduct within the United States.

The administration has underscored its commitment to border enforcement and interior removals, especially in cases involving individuals with criminal records.
