A Michigan man is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly involving his 11-year-old daughter in a home burglary and then abandoning her when the crime was interrupted, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office, as reported by The New York Post.
Andre Stephon-Curtis Broadenax, 29, is accused of stealing a vehicle in Dearborn, Michigan, on April 29 and then using it to drive to a home under renovation in a quiet Detroit neighborhood approximately 15 minutes away.
Once there, prosecutors allege Broadenax forced his young daughter to help him break into the residence.

“The defendant forced his 11-year-old daughter to assist him with the home invasion,” the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement.
However, the burglary attempt was cut short when the homeowner’s 75-year-old son arrived and encountered the intruders. According to authorities, Broadenax fled the scene immediately, leaving behind both the stolen vehicle and his daughter.
Detroit Police officers apprehended Broadenax shortly afterward while he attempted to flee the area on foot.

David Bridges, a longtime resident of the neighborhood, expressed disbelief over the incident in an interview with WXYZ 7.
“As me being a father of eight kids, I can’t see me using none of my kids to actually break into a house or do anything to harm another person because it’s wrong. Right now, you could have just lost your life and your child’s, so it’s really sad.”
Authorities have charged Broadenax with a series of felonies, including first-degree home invasion, second-degree home invasion, larceny in a building, receiving and concealing a stolen motor vehicle, inducing a minor to commit a felony, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Prosecutors said Broadenax’s next court appearance is scheduled for May 14.
The incident has drawn strong public condemnation, especially due to the involvement of a child in a dangerous and criminal act. Officials have not released additional information on the condition or custody status of the 11-year-old girl following the incident.
The investigation remains ongoing.
