FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino issued a detailed public update via X outlining the agency’s recent priorities, active operations, and internal reforms.
The post comes amid mounting pressure from supporters of President Donald Trump, who have raised concerns over the lack of public movement in cases involving the 2016 Trump-Russia investigation, the January 6 prosecutions, and alleged misconduct by members of the Biden-Harris administration.
In his post, Bongino emphasized that substantial work is being conducted behind the scenes, particularly in the areas of immigration enforcement, child exploitation cases, and transparency with Congress.

Bongino began his statement by highlighting active operations targeting illegal immigration.
“The workforce has been working overtime on task force operations to remove dangerous illegal aliens from the country,” he said.
“These removal and incarceration operations will dramatically change the crime landscape in the country when combined with the administration’s laser-focus on sealing the border shut. Expect these operations to ramp up, not slow down.”
Addressing crimes against minors, Bongino referenced a national initiative called Operation “Restoring Justice.”

According to his statement, the FBI arrested 764 individuals across the United States in connection with child exploitation cases. “We are going to take your freedom if you take away a child’s innocence,” he stated.
Bongino also provided updates on ongoing investigative efforts into several high-profile incidents and operations.
He noted that in recent months, the FBI has responded to congressional requests for information on the 2017 shooting of Rep. Steve Scalise, the Nashville school shooting, the origins of Crossfire Hurricane, and the COVID-19 pandemic’s origins and response.
Additionally, Bongino confirmed the FBI is working with the Department of Justice on the Jeffrey Epstein investigation, stating that agents are processing “voluminous amounts of downloaded child sexual abuse material” and reviewing victim statements requiring privacy protections.
He acknowledged public frustration over the pace of information disclosure but emphasized the agency’s commitment to accuracy and legal compliance.
“We are clearing information to Congress, and the public, as quickly as possible,” Bongino said.
Internally, Bongino stated that the agency is conducting weekly budget reviews and working to reduce inefficiencies.
“It’s your money, and it’s your FBI. We won’t forget that,” he said.
He indicated that leadership meets weekly with the Chief Financial Officer, Chief Information Officer, and Chief Technology Officer to examine budgetary issues line by line.
Bongino also addressed what he described as false media narratives targeting the agency, specifically defending FBI Director Patel.
“The Director’s office is attached to mine. I am in most of the briefings he is in,” he wrote.
“He spends anywhere between 10–12 hours in the office attending meetings with everyone from foreign heads of law enforcement to our counter-terror teams, and more. Any assertion otherwise is a verifiable lie designed to stop our reforms and fracture your trust.”
He concluded his statement by reaffirming his commitment to public service and transparency.
“I don’t work for myself anymore, I work for the public,” Bongino wrote.
“Other things are happening as well, and they will become evident in the coming weeks and months. Keep watching us and holding us accountable.”
I’d like to update you on some things that I think are going well, and some things that we can, and will, do better.
