Questions are mounting following the disclosure that Joe Biden has been diagnosed with an aggressive, late-stage form of prostate cancer.
Multiple medical experts have expressed skepticism that the diagnosis could have been missed during his time in office, while Donald Trump Jr. raised the possibility of a cover-up.
The 82-year-old former president was diagnosed on Friday, according to a statement released by his office. A “small nodule” was found during a medical examination earlier this month, and subsequent analysis revealed that the cancer had metastasized to the bone.

The cancer was graded a Gleason score of 9, one of the most severe classifications.
The announcement has prompted medical professionals to publicly question how such an advanced case of prostate cancer could have gone unnoticed, particularly given the availability of standard screening tools and Biden’s access to consistent medical care as a sitting president.
Dr. Howard Forman, a professor at Yale University, posted on X that the diagnosis raises significant concerns.
“It is inconceivable that this was not being followed before he left the Presidency,” Forman wrote.
“Gleason grade 9 would have had an elevated PSA level for some time before this diagnosis. And he must have had a PSA test numerous times before. This is odd.”

He added, “I wish him well and hope he has an opportunity for maximizing his quality of life.”

Dr. Steven Quay echoed those concerns, noting that the form of cancer identified in Biden is among the easiest to detect early through blood testing.
“The PSA blood test shows the rate of cancer cell growth,” Quay said.
“For even with the most aggressive form, it is a 5-7 year journey without treatment before it becomes metastatic.”
“Meaning, it would be malpractice for this patient to show up and be first diagnosed with metastatic disease in May 2025,” he continued.
“It is highly likely he was carrying a diagnosis of prostate cancer throughout his White House tenure and the American people were uninformed.”

Fox News contributor and physician Dr. Marc Siegel said he was surprised by the extent of Biden’s condition.
“I mean, he must have had the best possible care here. I’m a little taken aback that it’s this far advanced,” Siegel stated.

Urologist Dr. David Shusterman told NewsNation that a diagnosis at this stage is extremely rare in modern medicine.
“The fact that we just find it at a Gleason nine is just pretty much unheard of in this day and age of medicine,” Shusterman said.
“This is what I typically would see in a VA hospital, where a patient hasn’t had medical attention in 10 years, presents to an emergency room with bone pain, and then they find that it’s metastatic prostate cancer.”

Donald Trump Jr. expressed doubts over the timing of the disclosure, raising questions about whether the diagnosis had been withheld from the public.
“What I want to know is how did Dr. Jill Biden miss stage five metastatic cancer or is this yet another coverup???” Trump Jr. posted on X.

Biden’s office confirmed that the diagnosis came after he began experiencing urinary symptoms.
In a statement, his team said, “While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive which allows for effective management.”
“The President and his family are reviewing treatment options with his physicians,” the statement concluded.
No further details on Biden’s treatment plan or prognosis have been provided.
