FBI Director Kash Patel and Deputy Director Dan Bongino joined Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures for a wide-ranging interview with host Maria Bartiromo on Sunday.

The conversation covered their efforts to restore trust in the FBI, address prior politicization within the agency, and deliver long-awaited transparency related to key investigations such as Crossfire Hurricane.

Early in the interview, Bartiromo asked Patel about his plans to rebuild public confidence in the FBI and remove political bias from the agency’s operations.

“So, we have a multi-part process,” Patel responded.

“First of all, our priorities — simple: crush violent crime, defend the homeland, rigorous organizational accountability, and the fourth — aggressive constitutional oversight with Congress.”

Patel said that restoring trust involves empowering the FBI’s rank-and-file agents and analysts while exposing how prior leadership politicized the agency.

“What we need America to know is that this place was politicized,” he said.

“Congress has rightfully requested the documents from Crossfire Hurricane to January 6 to the Richmond Catholic memo and so much more… and now, finally, Americans are reading for themselves the documentation.”

Patel directly named former officials including James Comey, Andrew McCabe, and Peter Strzok, stating, “They intentionally failed the American public by putting on the biggest D.C. deception game we’ve ever seen.”

He accused them of lying to a federal court, misleading the public, and misusing taxpayer resources in connection with the Crossfire Hurricane investigation into alleged Russian ties to the Trump campaign.

Bartiromo pressed Patel on the lack of accountability for former officials, saying, “Comey, Strzok, and the rest — they’ve got TV shows, they’ve got media platforms, they’re fine. There’s been no accountability.”

Patel responded, “It’s a fair criticism… Most of these statutes of limitations are five years old. And we will investigate criminal conduct where we find a righteous case to do so… but a lot of it we’re precluded from.”

Patel emphasized that while criminal charges may be out of reach in some cases, their focus remains on transparency.

“We can put out the documents and the information that these people withheld from the American public,” he said.

He also revealed that he and Bongino had recently uncovered additional information related to Crossfire Hurricane that even he, as a lead investigator during his time in Congress, had not previously seen.

“We are continuing to work with Congress to put those documents out,” Patel said.

“They withheld and hid documentation and put it in rooms where people weren’t supposed to look.”

When Bartiromo asked for clarification, Patel confirmed the discovery of new material and internal efforts to hide it.

“Yes. I was a lead Russiagate investigator for the House Intelligence Committee… and I’m telling you and the American public that we have now found material and information and people who wanted to hide it from the world since we got in these seats.”

Patel stated that new disclosures could be made public within “a week or two.”

Bongino echoed the need to manage public expectations about immediate results while reiterating their commitment to accountability.

He and Patel indicated that they are simultaneously managing the agency’s broader priorities, including tackling violent crime and protecting national security.

The FBI’s current leadership has pledged to continue releasing unredacted documents to Congress and cooperating with legislative oversight to reveal what occurred during politically sensitive investigations in previous years.

While specific details on the newly uncovered documents have yet to be made public, Patel suggested that their release would offer additional insight into how former FBI officials handled key investigations and internal processes.
