The U.S. military has ditched “woke” in favor of actually being a military.

The Department of Defense (DoD) released a new ad featuring a high-intensity procession of bombastic shots: men in uniform, explosions, men turning over tires, fighter jets, more explosions. Voiceover for the video is spliced together from speeches by both United States Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and President Donald Trump.

“No more distractions. No more electric tanks. No more gender confusion, no more climate change worship. We are laser focused on our mission of war-fighting,” Hegseth says. (RELATED: Reverse Discrimination Case Another Nail In The Coffin For DEI)

Where are the female soldiers with lesbian mothers? I didn’t spot one in the entire ninety-or-so seconds of advertisement. Nor am I complaining. Genderqueer theorists make for unlikely soldiers. As it turns out, targeting the people least likely to espouse any sort of patriotic feeling is a bad recruitment strategy.

The DoD’s video might be mistaken for a Call of Duty ad. If the military wants to fix its recruitment crisis, which, with Hegseth at the helm, one believes it actually does, this sort of imagery and rhetoric is the correct route. U.S. Army Recruiting claimed their most productive December in fifteen years in 2024, enlisting 346 soldiers a day that month. Hegseth has attributed the success to Trump’s “bold and strong” leadership.

BREAKING: In December 2024, the @USArmy had its best recruiting number in 12 years.

In January 2025, the Army hit its best recruiting number in 15 YEARS.

BOTTOM LINE: America’s youth want to serve under the bold & strong “America First” leadership of @realDonaldTrump.

Still, there’s something darkly humorous about the United States government calling on the same demographic which was, for years, maligned as the scum of the earth, to put their lives on the line for their countrymen. “Hey guys, we’re ready to do some real fighting now, so if you could help us out here…”

Granted, Trump’s administration is a stark contrast from those which have come before. Trump is one of the least war-eager presidents in recent memory. “We will measure our success not only by the battles we win, but also by the wars we end, and perhaps most importantly, the wars we never get into. It’s called peace through strength,” Trump narrates over the advertisement. This comes as Trump reportedly considers imposing new sanctions against Russia, following President Vladimir Putin’s reticence to make a peace deal with Ukraine.

“Through our power and might, we will lead the world to peace. Our friends will respect us, our enemies will fear us, and the whole world will admire the unrivaled greatness of the United States military,” continues Trump. It’s certainly refreshing to see a positive vision of what an American-dominated future might look like. Especially one which isn’t “infinite groveling for perceived historical slights.”
