Jake Tapper Realizes That ‘His Party Is the Party of Hate and Division’ [WATCH]

CNN anchor Jake Tapper is calling out the left’s cultural disconnect with everyday Americans after revealing that his 15-year-old son was mocked on a liberal podcast simply for wanting to become a police officer.

Tapper recounted the story during a recent discussion, in which he described being a guest on a “left-leaning podcast that shall remain nameless.”

The hosts, who Tapper said do not have children, asked him about his own. When he mentioned that his teenage son aspires to join law enforcement, the response was immediate—and disturbing.

“I went on a left leaning podcast that shall remain nameless, and we were talking about my kids, because I think they were both people without kids, and they asked me about my son, and I said he was, you know, he’s, he’s a football player and he wants to be a policeman,” Tapper recalled.

“And their joke was about my 15 year old son. Oh, how does he feel about minorities? Like the idea that he wants to be a policeman, therefore he’s, he’s racist, my son.”

Tapper said the remark was followed by laughter, and then backlash in the comment section.

The experience, he said, illustrated the Democratic Party’s growing inability to communicate with male voters—including young men with no political agenda.

“That was the big laugh. And then I got dragged in the comments and all that stuff and, and I thought to myself, This is why you start losing elections 100%,” Tapper said.

He went on to describe his son as a typical teenager, not politically motivated, whose interests revolve around football, history, and video games.

“My football playing son, who, has no political views. He’s 15. He thinks about World War Two and gaming and playing linebacker. That’s that’s his world. You’re deciding he’s a racist because he wants to be a cop,” Tapper said.

According to Tapper, his son’s motivation for wanting to join law enforcement comes from a desire to serve the community.

“Why does he want to be a cop? He wants to be a cop because he wants to help people. I to help people, you know, and he thinks that’s the best way he can help people.”

Tapper used the incident to highlight what he sees as a broader problem within the Democratic Party: the failure to authentically connect with male voters across racial and economic lines.

“And that’s how the Democratic Party Talks to men, not just white men, but men,” Tapper noted.

He also criticized Minnesota Governor Tim Walz’s approach to connecting with male voters, referencing what he called an awkward attempt to appear relatable.

“I mean, I get the idea that they thought Tim Walz could, what’s the term? He used code switch or something. He thought that he could, he could translate the Democratic Party values, because he hunts and fishes and owns a gun and was in the army and drinks a beer. I mean, at least there was an attempt. But I find it just insane,” Tapper said.

The comments come at a time when Democrats are facing declining support among working-class men and are under pressure to reassess their messaging strategies ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.

Tapper’s remarks add to a growing chorus of voices warning that cultural condescension and mischaracterizations could cost Democrats at the ballot box.
