A woman in Phoenix, Arizona, shot a suspected intruder inside her home on Wednesday afternoon, authorities confirmed.

The incident occurred around 1:40 p.m. when the homeowner returned and discovered a woman allegedly inside her residence without permission.

According to a report by FOX 10 Phoenix, the homeowner confronted the intruder before discharging a firearm.

The suspect, who has not been publicly identified, was struck and later transported to a nearby hospital. Officials told local media that the injuries sustained by the alleged intruder were not considered life-threatening.

Phoenix Police have not released additional details regarding the motive or how the suspect entered the home.

When it appeared they were preparing to attack him again, he drew a gun, prompting the would-be assailants to flee the scene.

Law enforcement in Baltimore has not yet confirmed whether arrests have been made in the case.
