Former Republican Congressman George Santos deactivated his X account on Wednesday following a weeklong series of posts targeting former GOP colleagues, the U.S. justice system and his own legal situation, the New York Post reported.

Santos, 36, began posting the messages on May 21, expressing frustration with the length of his prison sentence and accusing his “so-called friends” in the Republican Party of failing to support him in efforts to secure a presidential pardon, the New York Post reported.

“For those asking… Even though I initially considered the prospect of petitioning the president with a pardon application, I have [ceased] that approach,” Santos posted on May 27, according to the New York Post. “The so called ‘friends’ I have that said they’d help legit should have just told me to go f–k myself, because that’s what has essentially happened with their actions.”

Santos was sentenced earlier this month to seven years and three months in federal prison after pleading guilty to wire fraud and aggravated identity theft. He is scheduled to report to prison on July 25. (RELATED: Former Rep. George Santos Gets Over 7-Year Prison Sentence)

The former congressman’s series of posts also included comments about spending his remaining free time with family. “I want to focus the little time I have left on being with my family and putting my affairs in order before my untimely departure,” he wrote in a May 21 post, the New York Post reported. In another message on Monday, he added, “T-61 days! Last Memorial Day.”

Santos, who represented New York’s 3rd Congressional District, was expelled from Congress in December 2023 following multiple ethics violations and a federal indictment. At the time of his account deactivation, Santos had approximately 200,000 followers on X.
