Deranged Legacy Media Twists Itself Into Pretzel To Avoid Crediting Trump

No one would accuse the legacy media of being overly fond of logic. Or giving credit to President Donald Trump when it’s due. But The Washington Post’s latest obfuscation of cause-and-effect is one for the books. 

In an article investigating the “mysterious drop in fentanyl seizures on the U.S.-Mexico border,” The Washington Post explores this “new and puzzling reality.” The explanation is “complex,” the outlet assures us. Of course, it’s only puzzling and complex if one refuses to acknowledge the Trump administration’s efforts to stem the flow of drug smuggling over the border.

Fentanyl seizures have plummeted from 1,700 pounds in 2024 to 746 pounds in 2025, according to the outlet. “The decline is occurring even as the Trump administration has deployed thousands of troops to the border and expanded drone flights,” The Washington Post reports. “With more boots on the ground, you’d think seizures would go up – not down.” 

You might think that if you neglect to consider the second order effects inspired by thousands of boots on the ground. Deterrence, of the sort motivated by being thrown in prison, is likely a significant factor in the drop in narcotics seizures. (RELATED: Trump Delivers Wildest Illegal Migration Deterrent Yet)

“The drop in fentanyl seizures at the border is only a mystery to Washington Post reporters suffering from Trump-Derangement Syndrome,” said White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson to the Daily Caller. “Everyone else knows the simple truth: President Trump closed our border to illegal drug traffickers and Americans are safer because of it. As of March, fentanyl traffic at the Southern Border had fallen by more than half from the same time last year – while Joe Biden’s open border was still terrorizing America.” 

The Washington Post floats a different hypothesis. Maybe fentanyl is just, like, so 2024. 

“You’re getting this generational effect — illicit opioids are not cool,” said epidemiologist Nabarun Dasgupta, according to the Post. 

One wonders if liberal journalists enjoy the challenge of explaining away the public’s lying eyes. Say what you will, but they’re an awfully creative bunch.
