Tom Homan, the Border Czar under President Donald Trump, issued a warning during a Tuesday appearance on Fox News Channel’s The Ingraham Angle, stating that continued political attacks on federal immigration agents may lead to violent consequences.

Homan specifically pointed to rhetoric from Democratic lawmakers that he said vilifies Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Border Patrol agents.

“It is disgusting,” Homan said.

“And, a lot of our congressional representatives who are vilifying ICE and the Border Patrol every day — they’re driving this hate. And, I’m telling you, it’s only a matter of time before there’s an incident where an ICE agent is going to have to take a life or an ICE agent is going to lose a life.”

Homan referenced the policies and enforcement efforts under President Trump, crediting them with significantly improving national border security and reducing illegal trafficking.

“Under President Trump, since he’s been back, let me tell you what ICE and the Border Patrol has done,” he said.

“They gave us the most secure border in the history of this nation. Fentanyl trafficking is down over 50%, which means we’re saving lives from overdose deaths. Sex trafficking in women and children is down significantly. Migrant death, over 4,000 aliens died making the journey. They’re not dying because they’re not coming.”

The Department of Homeland Security has repeatedly reported challenges along the southern border, particularly with human trafficking and fentanyl smuggling, issues that were central to Homan’s remarks.

“Again, fentanyl is under half of what was coming across,” Homan said.

“President Trump is saving lives. The men and women of ICE are saving lives every day.”

He also emphasized that the agency’s enforcement focus remains on public safety threats.

“If you look at the numbers, the numbers don’t lie. The majority of people ICE is arresting are criminal illegal aliens — public safety threats,” Homan explained.

“And the non-criminals — most of them are scooped up in sanctuary cities.”

Sanctuary cities, which limit cooperation with federal immigration authorities, have been a point of contention in national immigration policy debates.

Homan suggested that these jurisdictions often shield non-citizens from ICE enforcement actions, making operations more difficult.

“You’re right, the world is upside-down when the guy that carries the badge and gun is the bad guy and the ones who break the law are the victims,” he said.

“It’s terrible. It’s just upside-down. It’s incredible.”

Homan previously served as acting director of ICE under President Trump and now continues to advocate for stricter immigration enforcement as part of the Trump administration’s ongoing border security agenda.

His comments on Tuesday follow recent reports of increased scrutiny and protests targeting ICE operations across various parts of the country.

President Trump has consistently prioritized immigration enforcement since returning to office in 2025, directing renewed support for ICE and Border Patrol and rolling back immigration restrictions imposed during the Biden-Harris administration.

The administration has emphasized reducing illegal border crossings, dismantling trafficking networks, and increasing penalties for human smugglers as central goals of its national security strategy.
